as some of you might remember ive been kicking around the idea of getting a fulltone OCD pedal.
ok so i took the leap and got one today.
at first thought the pedal is very heavy to be 80% the size of boss pedals.
weighs about twice that of a boss pedal too.
very ruggedly built. best built pedal ive seen at this point.
im gonna be running this through the blues jr and using my
GC exclusive ashbody tele 2010 model.
this pedal is very simple looking with a volume, tone and drive control.
there is a toggle switch in the middle LP lower selection, and HP being the top selection.
its funny how much control over your tone you have with this pedal.
this pedal can do almost any tone your looking for.
single coils or humbuckers will be happy with this pedal.
the drive control take you from a boost of sorts to a full blown...........
i just dont know how to explain it....... is driven i'll tell you that lol.
as much drive on tap that you will ever need for any style you play i bet.
the tone control also has a nice sweep to it too.
the HP/lp function is hard to explain. LP is more bassy and HP is a bit more bright sounding. the pedal cost me $100 used. was it worth it? oh hell yes.
cant wait until i get the opportunity on monday to really blast the JR and see what this combo can give me.
im excited about this pedal as i can get some nice blues tones as well as some more heavy rockin tones. im not sure if i can get a metal tone yet.
i will be experimenting on monday. ive been a boss heavy metal pedal
fan for decades. it has everything i want in my metal playing and for my metal rig. that pedal through my rack and carvin stack give you a rip their spine out and beat them with it tone lol.
well ive been building a blues rig as im not much into metal any more.
i think this pedal will give me what i need. fat tones and a way to control it with options. there thats the way i would say best describes this pedal.

To wring the most grit out of your new OCD, I recommend you pick up the optional 18 VDC power supply if you have not yet done so.

I've often wondered if I made the right choice between the Fulltone OCD and the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff pi. I bought the Muff and love, love, love it. Glad to hear you're happy with your pedal. I use two pedals on my Li'l Dawg Prince (modern nod to the Fender Princeton amp). Simple amps sound great with a few nice pedals. I have the Muff and a MXR Carbon Copy. That's all I need for my tones. What other pedals are you using for your blues setup?

im thinking about a delay and a compress/sustainer and calling it a day.
i want to stay totally away from boss if possible.
i might use their GE7 eq pedal. that pedal can really tweak your tone.
not that i dont like boss. im a boss $@!&# truth be told. boss is the best pedal company out there in my opinion.
i just know that theres so many good pedals on the market i wanted to give other companies a chance. i didnt go wrong with my OCD. im gonna get the radial texas bones too in a few months. i like that pedal too. its two channel. run both. use the bones for my totally blues tunes and use the OCD for my blues/rock and heavier songs. thats a big MAYBE though.
i might just see if i can make the OCD fit the total bill.
i bet it can. im so very impressed with this pedal.

Sounds good. I can whole heartedly recommend the MXR Carbon Copy for a delay. Good stuff. From nice slapback to generous delay and in between it's all good. Very low noise if any at all. Very analog sounding. I think it's catagorized as analog.

Yep. http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page ... pip&id=366

Mine fits the bill for me. As a boost or adding slight crunch, it's all good............. 8) Mike

MXR is one of those companies ive over look on purpose for a long time.
being the boss freak i am/was. i really have been looking at them lately.
im gonna youtube the pedal you suggested just to looksee.
i dont need a lot of delay options here with this rig build.
MXR is a well known company and you never hear anything bad about them.

Analog attempts to recreate the older tape type echo (Echoplex) including very slight flutter. That being said, I'm running the OCD and a Boss DD3 and get a subtle grit and slapback that's hard to beat.YMMV........... 8) Mike

Analog degrades as the delay gets farther and farther away. It's more natural sounding, like when a rock is thrown into water. You have a splash, then smaller and smaller waves. Digital on the other hand will remain constant with no degradation. More constant. The repeats fade, but in the same rhythm.

hum...... ok guys, in your very own opinion, which is the better for a blues rig situation?
i think a delay is a great way to help fatten up a tone but can be over done as well. kinda like reverb.

I use it instead of reverb. Reverb can be too much (for me). The subtlety of an analog delay does the trick. Digital is kinda sterile sounding in a blues rig. My opinion of course. YMMV.
