lol ive heard that one too. nan, that pedal thing really has screwed things up. bad thing is that the media has made it into something it never was.
everybody running around biotching about the pedal. lol
that same pedal is found in GM cars, dodge, etc etc. once that hit the media everybody started settling down.

I find the whole thing very suspicious, here you have the "Government" the owners of GM and Chrysler attacking there no#1 competitor. I have seen it for myself with customer cars the floormats (If left to bunch up under the pedals from lake of proper care) they can hook the pedal and cause this issue. Now if you clean your car and keep the floormats in place (Toyota even has a hook in the floor boards to keep them in place) you will never have this issue.
I tell customers to replace the floormats with cheap rubber ones from the local Fred Meyers if there worried about it.

Mine is 3 completely random words put together from Aerosmith's nine lives album. It's funny when people who know me see my screen name and go "who in the hell is Jack?"

man, none of us ever had a car that came in that even had a issue.
there were no toyotas reported with issues of ANY kind in our region.
oh, there were plenty of reports though. folks that had rearended folks
blamed the recall though we never found a issue. folks late on car payments crying that they refuse to drive the car because their pedal stuck on them once or twice.
man the list goes on and on.
did you ever see the lady that was on the news, glasses, white hair, saying that her car (prius) was on a wrecker and just lunged forward all of a sudden? lol theres no way that could happen period. she was on every day telling her story and the media covered/loved every bit of it too.
well she finally got pulled to the side and told that its known what she was doing and that cant happen period. well she eventually shut up once the media started covering that she was a flake and trying to get on a class action law deal against toyota.

ugly helicopter with two rotor heads each having three blades on top
not much to look at but a much smoother ride than a black hawk
or huey we called em cadillac of the sky
( huge boat but comfortable ride)

Inspired by Michael Keaton's huge head in the 1989 Batman movie.

Now, you have to understand, this is more thew difference between a dealership service department and Indy shop like I am at. we rarely see them new, we get them after the warranty is over, and usually over 90K.

I have had three Camry's with this issue come in my shop, and one did it on a test drive, that is what I found, those really nice factory floor mats get pushed under the pedals and the fold up, the hard rubber backing in them splits and then they can and do hook over the pedals.
I have pulled them out for customers when i see they are starting to get like this and again, it's not a design flaw, it's a lack of maintenance.

I have been through the Prius training as well, And I know there is a fail safe in the base program if you hold the accelerator down and the brake pedal for 5 seconds it cut off the engine/motor, that is why I knew that guy in San Diego was full of it.
