I got one back in 08 Jeff, the two pup model. I imported it from the US, as they weren't available in the UK at that time. It's a great guitar imho (Alanssaab wants me to sell it to him  ), I took it up to my local dealer after a while. I changed the bridge pup to a SD quarter pounder, the manager of the shop ended up bringing one back from the US a few weeks later for himself. For the money, they are definately worth it. Even before I changed one of the pups, it sounded great.

(Nice tele custom Snowy! I've got one in 2-tone sunburst that's a lot of fun to play)

Concerning the Melody Maker I've read that sharp fret ends can be an issue on *some* of them. For the money I don't think you can really go wrong; they do look nice. If you've played one and liked how it felt then go for it

They're great little guitars. You can get sharp fret ends on anything. I've found a good many Road Worn guitars not only with sharp fret ends but fret sprout and lousy setup on the Strats. The Teles are a bit better though.

Try a Melody Maker, it couldn't hurt. I may possibly get another one. I had one when I was a kid. Sorry I ever let it go.

Can't speak for the new gear but my wife's brother used to have old one, looked like it had been run over by a truck. Beat up body, no cover on the single pickup. Used to run it through an original TS-9 into an original Blackface Bassman head and cabinet. That rig....Billy Gibbons would have died for 8)

We have one in school, plays and sounds great, unfortunately some idiot first year wrecked it, now its missing a tuner and theres a giant chunk out of the back of the neck, about 2 inches long ways.
I'd recommend it, but don't let any morons near it.

I've had a single pup version for about three years now and I gotta say it's a great guitar, very good price, very light and comfortable neck, great playability and good sound. Worth your while checking one out.
I've considered putting a P90 on. I might just do that sometime.

Hi Snowy, how's things man? those P90's are somethin' else, really powerful. I've got a Les Paul DC and a Blueshawk with those fitted and yes! nice sound, good tone. Hot stuff!!
So this gives me a dilema really, with having those two, should I alter the Melody Maker from it's original set-up? It would sound better but I'm kinda reluctant to alter things, original specs and all that. It does sound good now.
Anyway, I'll see how I feel about it, further on up the road. :D

If anyone tries the Joan Jett one, let me know. I've been kind of looking at that one. (Not because it's Joan Jett, but because it's light)

Funny you said that Doc. When I went to the guitar show in Philly last year my friend Mike met a friend of his there with what exactly you described and I did not even know what it was till he told me. Funny thing was that he got 4K for it when we saw him after the show, still has me scratching my head.lol

In this opinion, the SG Faded is a splendid guitar. 'Bought a Brown 2 1/2 years ago, added pup covers and top quality G knobs, strung with 11s and setup by the best, it is a magnificent instrument.

I'm not a big fan of Tele's, neither of maple fretboards, but I wouldn't say no to this one!

I have played the Melody Maker way back in the 60s and, not being critical, yes it is an electric guitar, but, what ever price it is, there is a Fender guitar at that price point that can do everything the MM can just better more fun and easier. They sound good, just that there are other choices. If you do get 1 let us know how you like it and maybe let us hear some audio or maybe a video of you playing the Melody Maker.

I have played both of the current Melody Makers and liked the very much. The Joan Jett Model was sweet.
