I guess that by now it's no secret that I'm a British Invasion era fanatic and hung up on great harmonies. The other day I mentioned a 4CD psychedelic era set and a CD by The Cryan'(sic) Shames.Today I gave a good listen to Sugar & Spice-A Collection by the C.S. and was amazed by the 4 part harmonies backing the lead vocals making it technically 5 part. These Chigago guys were brilliant and on par with The Association as far as harmonies and melodies go.Besides Sugar & Spice there's another song that was a minor hit in 67 called I Wanna Meet You,that's a song where their harmonies shine,I kept my car CD player with that song on repeat all afternoon driving out to town and back, the harmonies were that tight and captivating.Anyone into great harmonies and 60s music would certainly enjoy this $6 CD.

Excellent tune, I love oldies! They're the only thing I listen to anymore.

I love the We 5 version of You Were On My Mind,it's way better than any other version including Ian and Sylvia and Ian Tyson is the one who wrote it,I have it on record, cassette and CD.The Cryan' Shames harmonies are much like We 5's and the song I Wanna Meet You has a great lead break done on a 12 string electric that's most like a Fender XII because it doesn't sound like a Ric or Gibson,it has that Strat like single coil quack so it could most likely be a Fender XII or maybe a Vox Phantom XII.

With tools like Melodyne and Antares and others now making their way into the home recording market, I see no reason why perfect harmony can't be achieved at any studio these days.

I'm going to brag a little. We have 5 part harmonies in our band and that is one of our strengths. You can hear some of them if you check out our recordings and videos.

It's is something we work on and are very conscious to get right.
