Tomorrow marks what would have been the 64th birthday of John"Mitch" Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was Mitch's jazz influenced drumming that was the foundation of the funky bottom end of Jimi's music. His drumming on songs like Little Miss Lover,Axis Bold As Love and I Don't Live Today were sublime to say the least.Have a great birthday Mitch, I know that you're up there keeping Heaven rockin with Moonie and Bonham.

Just yesterday I spent the whole afternoon reading about, listening to and watching videos of Jeff Porcaro on You Tube. I am not a drummer, but I know an incredible drummer when I hear one.
No need to explain who Jeff Porcaro was I hope. Too bad he died way too early!
Here's his video lesson from You Tube, a very interesting stuff I must tell you, even if you're not a drummer:

Yeah, Porcaro died wierd, right? I remember something like he was going out his front door to get something and died on his porch suddenly due to a hidden heart defect ...

No, he was using some herbicide or insecticide in his garden and inhaled too much of it, and died of a reaction to it. An autopsy revealed a hidden heart problem.

You can read about it here:
