I just hope he puts his heart and soul into better Fender products rather than cheapening them. I'm looking for a new guitar by next year so I'll look to see what's on the market once this new person comes in.

Well, at least he was head of a guitar company, not like the head of public schools here where his former job was with public transportation with no background in education at all.

Crossing fingers on how this turns out.

Scary stuff. I can't really see what he has to offer FMIC. GC has always been last on my list for purchasing equipment. I always considered GC to be the Walmart of the musical instrument world. Ever notice the turnover of sales people at GC? Their commission based system leaves a lot to be desired.

Maybe Brad will comment on from his point of view?

What say you, Brad? :?:

How many more models do we need? Unless of course it's a brand new from the ground up model. Let's face it how many more variation's of the Strat do we need? Also how many more "Hot Rodded" vintage amp circuits do we need? 70's Strats were supposed to be the worst ever and they even reissued them LOL. I do love my 72 Strat though. We haven't seen anything truly innovative in ages.

Fender will start shipping out guitars with the wrong case (or no case at all)and no case candy to save Guitar Center the trouble of screwing it up themselves :P

Personally, i'm not too excited about the head of guitar center becoming the ceo of fender. I have heard too many horror stories from managers at my local GC, about extremely low pay, commission sharing, no company loyalty whatsoever to it's employees, the list goes on. Guitar center is a terrible employer, and everyone's heard all the customer complaints. Surely that fellow is well aware of all the bad in GC, what i'm wondering, is how much of it did he condone, or worse?

Remember Larry Thomas is the EX-head of GC. He stepped down from CEO of GC in 2004. Geez, you're making it sound like GC now owns Fender. That is not the case. Although I agree that the Fender/GC relationship now seems a little too close for comfort.
Don't forget the resent Lawsuits and investigations with the Federal Trade Commission and others about price fixing all involve Guitar Center, Fender, Gibson and a few others.

I wouldn't start a relationship with a new CEO by commenting on him via a message board...but that's just me.

I agree.

For me, Get a line for us ladies, please! (with some decent colors and not some girly a*&ed ones either). Some new body styles and some sweet humbuckers to boot. I know what people will say; those won't sell (like the Les Paul Goddess) but there's got to be a market besides Daisy Rock and Luna. I'm not knocking them, but can't the big lines give us gals something besides hello kitty and moronic girlie colors and cheap butt knockoffs?

Okay, rant over.

I do mean a new model. Last new models we had from fender were the toronado, cyclone and Showmaster and those are all discontinued.

I'm sure that it will all be good. The guy wouldn't have gotten the gig if he wasn't a good fit for the job.
