so i decided to shield the cavity of my strat and it ended up being way more of a pain than i expected, the weird thing is that my results were not anything like i expected. i dont know if i did something wrong or what, but now when i am close to the amp i get feedback in not only my single coil middle position but i get feedback in my bridge as well which is a humbucker. if i get far a way the hum disappears, but it seems like i have lost some of the punch in my neck and bridge position humbuckers. before i could get as close to the amp as i wanted and would only get feedback in the middle position.

why is this??

It is my understanding that mistakes made in the shielding process can create problems like the one you decribe. It is likely that you left a gap in the shielding somewhere or there may be grounding issues.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I am not sure what route you took shielding your guitar but your best bet is to use the paint does the best job. I had my strat shielded wow sounds amazing really pumped the output of the pick ups and no noise what so ever. my guitar tech said their are so much wifi and cellular interference that you pretty much have to shield your guitar he doesn't see how modern guitar manufacturers can get away with not doing it at the factory...

it is grounded as it was before i shielded it, do i need to ground it differently?

also my pickguard is made of aluminum does that make a difference?
