Fix it ya cheap bums.... That guitar will slowly rot there. Sad.

I thought, "if i had enough money, i'd buy'em all, and take good care of em rather than let those great guitars slowly rot"

someone needs to complain

See...back in the old days store owners wouldn't let every kid in town come and beat and bang on the guitars because they were trying to sell them "as new" in "new condition"...GC sells them "as new" in "used" condition.
There's nothing wrong at all in trying out guitars,I think you should be able to...but they need to be treated right to look good for the next person who is serious about buying.
But those guys at GC seem to let the kids they know aren't buying anything, come in and play whatever they want to on a regular basis...they have told me that.

Ha! In the U.S. we have Guitar Center, and in Australia you have Guitar Centre. :D
Is Guitar Centre a big chain of stores, or is it just one shop?

Hee-hee - the one thing I know about this Forum is that sure as eggs is eggs very shortly someone will be starting a new thread complaining they weren't allowed to try a guitar in a shop because the salesperson didn't think they were likely to buy it...

Cheers - C

I think that is how it is at most Guitar Center's, after all isnt the guitar on the wall just so everyone can test it out and when you actually decide to buy it they give you a new in box one from the back? At least that is how it was when I bought my first ever guitar from there.

It is painful to see the shape of the guitars sometimes but I am thankful just to have the option to go play all the guitars I desire at a GCenter so I can try out many models, brands, etc. Plus I figure someone will end up getting a killer deal on the display models in the end. Seems like they would sell them discounted dude to all the use.

The US based GC is not worldwide. Not yet at least. GC (Guitar Center, the one headquartered in Westlake Village, CA and owned by Bain) is just limited within the US for stores. http://gc.guitarcenter.com/locations/ I've heard rumors (excuse me, rumours  ) for the past few years of them opening stores in Europe. Never happened though. Maybe that's a good thing? GC's here are a blessing and a curse at the same time.

i agree with mr. ceri. if it don't look brand new, talk em down if your not satisfied. better yet, go somewhere else. the GC here is a good store and i'll say that again, a good store. maybe it's southern hospitality or just good management, hell, i don't know. they have treated me very good and thats all i ask for.
alot of folks here hate on GC and i have no problem with that. it's yall's opinion and i respect that. my GC is pretty darn good and the sales girl smiles and calls me "sweetie". thats important.

I dont know what its called, but its something that revolves around music centre. I'm probably gonna find another place, as that one has very poor managment.

Most of the Guitars that are hanging on the wall at my local guitar center are in sorry shape as well. I've seen some with pickup switch tips missing and strings that have all kinds of gunk on them. They expect you to accept these as "New" guitars? I don't think so. If I were to buy a guitar from them, it would have to come from their backroom in a box unopened.

So it sounds like the 'Switch Tip Bandit' has hit your Guitar Center too? Man, that guy sure gets around. If I ever catch that scumbag.....

Seriously though that really gets me mad. Why do jerks feel compelled to swipe all the switch tips? Do they all have a stash of 100's of swtich tips at home that they are hoarding for no reason other than the thrill of stealing? What a strange obsession.

Yeah great idea to ask for a new guitar still in the box. If the salesman says that they don't have any in the back, then ask for a manager to confirm since sales dudes there are told not to keep unboxing merchandise and putting it on the floor because a customer decided not to buy it. If you let them know you're serious about buying, they will grab one from the back.

I think its because they buy guitar that someone took the switch tip off, vicious circle.
