Does anyone have any information or heard of this particular guitar? It's apparently featured in "The Illustrated Directory of Guitar" by Nick Freeth.

I've ordered the book but do not have it yet. A friend has one and I'm considering buying it from him ... I understand only 100 were made of this particular series, but I can't find any information except for the book I mentioned, which I'm waiting to arrive from Amazon ... ????

It would help if you were a little more specific, but from your description of "52 series" I think you are talking about an American Vintage reissue '52 Telecaster. Yes there was a special edition one made in black with gold hardware in 2004. I remember it vividly because I played one in a shop and it was one sweet Tele. Wish I would have bought it.
