The gold snare drum that was presented to Ringo Starr by the Ludwig Drum Co. in 1964 is going on display at the Metropolitan Musem of Art from July 7 until the end of 2010 to honour Ringo's 70th birthday. The drum was presented to Ringo in appreciation of the interest he generated in Ludwig drums.I suppose that's the least they could do for him as after the Beatles performance Feb.9,'64 orders for Ludwig drums skyrocketed and they had to ramp up production by putting on extra shifts and 7 days a week.

On Breakfast With The Beatles this morning Ringo issued a statement that on 12 noon on July 7 he wants everyone to honour his birthday by wishing others Peace and Love.

Glad to hear that. Ringo is one of the most known drummers. He is also probably one of the most under rated drummers. One of the greatest to ever pound out a beat to some of the greatest songs ever written and recorded. I'm glad Ringo is going on his 70th. I know I think of Ludwig Drums and Ringo Starr to this day.
