$2600 pls tx at GC.
They said it's new but has been on the wall for about a year.
Headstock was kinda dusty.
What say you, did I get ripped?
Sure would like to find a Ser Number decoder. (know any?)
mine is 6 6xxx

Yes, you got a good deal!

As far as the ser #, its a 2006 (first digit)

It's my memory that I worry about. :?

Nice! Mine ended up fading to a nice Lemonburst :)

I always wanted to try a '54 goldtop with the wraparound. I think those are cool but I hear good and bad things about them.

I think the 54 is probably a "luxury extra" for those who have other models for their main axe.
For those that don't know, and as I understand it:
The 56 kind of stands out as being the last with P90 and have the tailstop
like most modern LPs that followed. I'd consider the 56 the last of the first generation LPs. '57 ushers in the dawn of the humbucker.
From a engineering perspective, for Gibson LP's, original '52 - '60 are probably a great selection of "first decade" guitars to study if not own.
They are also what the big name pioneering stars played. After that it's a series of modifications to this or that across the decades.

I should point out that this is my first Gibson electric. My first electric is the 2010 American Standard Strat.

I think they are both very, very nice guitars.

Thank you Radio,
It certainly does have different tone properties than my 2010 Amer. Stand. Stratocaster w/maple neck (706).

I think these guitars are definite keepers (hopefully, barring theft and economic hardship).

My Guitar Inventory:

Acoustics
1966 Gibson LG-0 (Mahogany Top Back & Sides)
Tone Sampler (Picked?) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N86gYYcLOYA

2004 Martin D-15 Dreadnought (Mahogany Top, Back & Sides)
Tone Sampler (Fingerstyle) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_t0GHyfdI4

2000 Esteve Classical (Lam. East Indian Rosewood Back & Sides, Solid Western Red Cedar Top)
Tone Sampler (I am playing my actual guitar: Picked) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvFmTtPvxvk

Electrics
2010 Fender Amer. Stand. Stratocaster w/maple neck (706).

2006 Gibson 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS (with P90s)

I think, for me there would only be a few additional "dream" choice guitars
I'd consider adding if I had the cash:

Martin
1969 N20 (yup, that one with the extra soundhole)
Couple of other Martin body styles primarily consisting of
different wood tops back and sides.

Fender
Early 50's Telecaster with some tooled leatherwork (yup, that one)
Couple of spare Strat 706s for Humbucker/Single combos
3-tone Sunburst with maple neck (SSS) Like Buddy's
Rosewood Tele (Yup, that one)

Gibson
L5 (specific model yet to be determined)
J-45
J-200
ES-350T (yup, that one)
57 LP Goldtop VOS (or Darkback?) (for the humbucker variation)
57 Black Beauty VOS (for the all mahogany variation - don't mind the color either)

1957 LP Custom 3 Pickup VOS (for the 3 humbucker variation and all mahogany body - again, don't mind the color either)

1 SG (for treble clearances)
Several LP Studios

Gretsch
Country Gentleman

A few additionals
Epiphone
Guild
Rickenbacker

Those are just a few of my dream guitars. I am sure if I had a fat wad of cash that flowed like a 6V-71 Detroit Diesel or Chevy Corvair flowed oil...,
I'd have me a pretty nice little working musician's museum.

Reality is more along the lines of a small collection of very, very carefully
selected guitars and economy workhorses that doubleduty as experimentals.

I believe my GAS has just begun... I hope it isn't serious though.
Nevertheless, I deeply appreciate that others have shared my joy in aquiring this guitar. That's what's cool!

We haven't even gotten the amps yet!
