Answers are likely on the Gibson forum.

thanks JSJH, 8)
done posted my Q.
Funny isn't it? Post a question like this somewhere it doesn't necessarily belong and find it is kinda like fishing.

Darn thing is I've joined so many forums as of late I am worried about losing track of my passwords.

Anyway, the guitar is indeed very nice.

thanks again.

If I were going to buy a guitar for $2000+, I definitely wouldn't mind it being that one. Congrats! :D

Thanks texasguitarslinger.
It's kinda surreal that I actually have a guitar that I never even dreamed of
owning.
I bought my Blues Deluxe RI last August (for my classical) and not too long after that, I visted the same store and they had this guitar down on the floor. I think
it was $3300 at that time - I'm not sure. Anyway, I picked it up and plugged it into another BDRI and was very impressed with the sound I
was getting out of the combination. I had already checked out the AM Standard Strat and Teles when I bought my amp so I could get a sense of how they would sound, which was good. This time, just on a whim, I tried
the Goldtop. Again, very impressed.

My circumstances changed between that time and it's not a pretty picture.
A case of bittersweet. I am trading a South Bend Heavy 10" lathe which I used to make some balusters which paid for my new AM STNDRD Strat. (Black w/mple neck 706) for this Goldtop.
It's painful to tell you the truth.

anyway, thanks. 8)

Thanks Bob. That's just it. I cannot visit GC because my computer's op system is so outdated so I couldn't know what GC was asking for this model. It leads me to suspect if it was used. Perhaps a return deal or ??
I just polished the stop bar as it had a light film on the chrome.
I understand that the original stopbars were made of zinc, aluminum and brass (chrome plated I presume).

Oddly, the "Gibson" inlay on the headstock looks more like a decal than true inlay. That sure would be a dirty trick on Gibson's part if you asked me. I say this as there is a very, very fine outline just so far outside of
the lettering as you would see on a decal. I could be wrong and I don't
really want to sound like I am nitpicking but being a perfectionist visual artist, I'm just kinda sensitive to finer details of things others might overlook. Again, I could be wrong and it just may be the way the paint flowed from the lettering.

Other than that, it really is beautiful guitar and it has a beautiful tone.

Thanks Solid,
You know, it's not really all that bad. The neck is a smidgeon thicker
than the AM Standard Strat but does not seem as bad as I thought.
I think can adapt to both the strat and LP very nicely. :D

I've been checking out the Epiphone version of that guitar lately. I've heard nothing but good reviews about that one as well.

I haven't seen one of those yet. Have you played one? How's it sound and play?

Sweet guitar Twinhit, definitely a great deal at less than half the MSRP, with those P-90s she should sound out of this world.Having 2 guitars with P-90s myself I know that you'll become addicted to the sound. What's the neck like is it thin or thick? I'm asking that because a lot of 50's Les Pauls had very thick necks given the unflattering nickname baseball bats.

I always wanted to try a '54 goldtop with the wraparound. I think those are cool but I hear good and bad things about them.

I really like the 56's. You still get the P90's, but a Tune-o-matic w/tailpiece as well.
