I saw Joe Bonamassa in a show from the Royal Albert Hall from 2009 on Paladia tonight. Before tonight I had only seen you-tube clips of him from when he was really young. The guy is a heck of a performer, a really good blues-man and I was surprised how well he sings. He gets great tone from those Gibsons, Clapton joined him for a song and that was great as well. I'm definitely looking to catch his act when he comes around. I may get a chance to see him in November. I think the fiance is in the next room ordering tix as I post this :D

If you dig the blues, you should check him out if they air this program again.

Joe B. is the Prince of the Blues and carrying the torch into the future.

I have 2nd row seats for Nov 20 to see him and counting down the minutes already

I saw him in March in Riverside Cali and it was the best concert I have ever seen.

Paladia has a lot of great stuff, saw the JB show a few months ago. He sounds a lot like Jeff Beck now. I saw him at the Brookhaven Amphitheater a couple years back during BB Kings' 80th Birthday Tour, he was still playing Strats and sounded very different. Best show EVER!! JB, KWS, AND BB KING on one bill for under sixty bucks!

I really must try hard not to be all over every Bonamassa thread on this Forum.

...But here's what that Albert Hall show looked like from my seat! :D

Nice seats Ceri! Me and BoK were actually looking for you when we were watching the show  . We figured you'd be near the stage :) She did get me tix for November. I really can't wait.

He's playing the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, mid October I believe. After reading Ceri's review, and all the other positive comments, I'm going to go to his gig.

Hi Kong and BrideofKong: oh dear, we did this one to death a few months ago - but just one more time ( )...

For some reason the solo number Woke Up Dreaming went out on the DVD as a "bonus feature", so I don't know whether it was included in your Paladia broadcast. In case not, here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AOsP8KBp8g

At about 07.08 on that clip (07.02 on the DVD) you can clearly see a fella in a pale blue rugby shirt whispering something in his wife's ear and then raising her little Fuji Finepix camera to take a photo. I have certain knowledge that what he's telling his wife is that Forum user ZZDoc doesn't much care for the Bach rip-off Joe is about to squeeze into that tune. That's perfectly true and the reason I know it is because the inattentive fella who should be paying more heed to the music is... me. (As if you hadn't guessed.)

Earlier in the evening that tiny camera was used to make this vid of Bonamassa and Clapton - so much lower quality footage than the broadcast you saw:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DydslPSlyaE

ZZDoc's ears were burning that night because just before the show I saw a tech carrying a pale blue Strat across the stage and remarked to my wife that the Good Doctor had recently informed us Eric had just taken delivery of a new Strat that color from the Custom Shop. And lo, a few numbers in the great man himself walked out carrying the self same guitar. Forewarned is forearmed. :D

Enough. I'm not really the total diehard fan I come across as, but still I'm off now to find Nevin1985 and arm-wrestle him on the subject...

Cheers guys - C

PS Snowy, you'll love it! :D

Good of you to share all of that with the group. I was about to put in my oar when I initially saw the thread but after the reading decided to say little more than the DVD of the performance is definitely something to own. (Which reminds me that I have to get it back from a colleague I lent it to.)I ran that small segment for my wife and when I told her that the guy was talking about me, she flipped.

Snowy! Good to read your post. Definitely make that performance. He played a venue in Manhattan recently which I could not take the opportunity to attend. A buddy of mine went at my urging and came away quite impressed.
