I would not care if my guitar was a fake as long as it played and sounded good; however, I would be pissed if I paid Fender prices for a Fencer guitar.

That's the reason. When I bought a "fake Les Paul" I knew it wasn't a real Les Paul. Some of these guys think they got a great deal on a real Strat, but then start to figure out something isn't right about it. They come here to verify the bad news.

We are happy to accomodate them!

I think we should make a destruction between a "Fake" and a "Similar styled" guitar.

To me, a Fake is a guitar that is designed and mislabeled to be something it is not with the intention of fraudulently increasing the value.

A similar style is a guitar of the same style but plainly labeled as what it is (Make and model).

With this in mind, a guitar that plays well is a guitar that plays well.

If I found out that my Mexi Telecaster, a guitar that, as far as I know, is never really faked, that it was, after I bought it from a legitamate Fender dealer, I would be extremely surprised, for one. Two, I'd feel cheated, being lied to that it was a real Fender. Three, I'd be very interested to know who and how they made such an amazing knock off. Four, my sentimental value would be slightly cheapened, knowing that the guitar I knew was false, and that the parts and name and feel were made up, just for money and greed, the product of someone who can't make an honest living because of illusions spawned by their own selfishness.

Basically, yes, it would concern me if it was a fake.

But I know it's not :)

as I said in another thread it is kind of hard to fool me with guitars because I've been around so long, if I had been hoodwinked into believing a guitar was something it isn't then when I did find out I would be perturbed just like anyone would.

Yep it would concern me but that concern would be taken straight to the door of the seller, one way or another
