Today I got a message on Facebook from a guitar and amp collector buddy about his new amp.The amp is a limited edition Deluxe Reverb made especially for the Long and McQuade music store chain in Canada. The amp is brown Tolex with a wheat grille,it has been upgraded to 40W and has a heavy duty 12" speaker as opposed to 2-10s.I hope to get a chance to hear it soon,it sounds like it could be a killer amp.

40 watts in a DR sounds like a lot more headroom than your average DR or DRRI. The brown tolex w/ wheat grille gives it the cosmetic edge too.

Deluxe Reverbs all have single 12" speakers, I believe. A Vibrolux would be an example of a 40 watt 2-10" speaker Fender amp. :)

I have a 1966 (not a reissue) Fender Deluxe Reverb with a K-120 JBL that puts out 44 watts. (Obviously modded)

Yeah DRs have 1/12...the Vibrolux has 2/10s at about 35 watts I think.
I have a couple of 60s DRs and a 66 Pro Reverb 2/12 among others and they kick booty.
The Pro is rated at 40 watts and is kinda known as a "baby twin".
I wonder if the amp you're talking about has 6L6 tubes instead of 6V6s...that would be my guess @40 watts.

I bought the very same amp 3 weeks ago. It was gorgeous, and sounded amazing... but after taking it home I was getting what I thought was tube rattle. Brought it back for a repair, got it back 10 days later. Took it home, same problem.

The second time I brought the amp back the saleman explained that the second one of two that they sold also had the same problem.

On Wednesday the store called me and said the repair was ready AND tested. When I went back and played it at the store, I was shocked to find out that the amp still had rattle on certain notes. HOW HARD IS IT TO SWAP OUT A TUBE??? At least, I believe that's what the problem was.

Disappointed, I finally got my money back. I was looking so forward to having a nice DRRI, and these are highly-touted amps.

Serves my right for trying to get another amp when I have a NOS Blues Jr that's been tough as nails for me since day one.

Yeah like everyone else has said, the Deluxe Reverb (vintage and reissue) has always come with a 12" speaker. But if it's putting out 40 watts like your friend said, then it probably has 6L6 tubes and I hope a new transformer also to help handle those tubes.

I just had to look up what this amp looks like. http://www.google.com/search?um=1&hl=en ... a=N&tab=iw
Sweet! I like it better then the regular blackface style.
