I have a Vibro Champ and a Vibro Champ XD... is there some way to boost the power by changing the tubes??? ALSO, I needed extra power recently, so I set both amps up and ran my guitar into a Y-adapter, then into each amp... could I have connected them some other, better way?

Nah, just changing tubes won't give you more power. It's more complicated than that.

Go from the Line Out socket on the back of the Vibrochamp XD into a PA.

Or just mic it if you can. Either way will work unless you don't have access to a PA system.

You could have used a clean boost in both chains.

Something like this :

The BBE are nice pedals. I like the EH LPB1 and the Seymour Duncan Pickup booster too.

You have to be careful with boosters and small Class A amps. They tend to get driven to total distortion. You can also damage the speaker if it's not rated for a high enough wattage. Fun stuff though if you use the wisely.

Those tubes can be like a torture chamber for the speakers.
