I said in another post today that I was into alternative music even back in the 60s.There were several bands that I was particularly fond of they were Audience and White Noise.Audience was the quintessential rock/classical/jazz fusion band and their guitarist Howard Werth was an unbelievable master of the fretboard.Their version of Screamin' J. Hawkins' "I Put A Spell On You "is a masterpiece.White Noise was the brainchild of synthesizer whiz Dave Vorhaus and their album White Noise "An Electrical Storm"was a groundbreaking bit of synthesizer work. There were also Classical/rock fusion bands such as Gryphon that used cellos ,bassoons and other instruments usually found in symphony orchestras.Gryphon pre-dated The Electric Light Orchestra for classical/rock fusion.Of course there were also bands such as King Crimson and Emerson Lake and Palmer that rock/jazz fusion to the fore. Anyone else fans/heard of Audience,White Noise/Gryphon or am I the lone fan of these groups?
