I start my job at the guitar store this week. I'm more involved in sales and cleaning things, but I still get to hang out with guitars whenever I'm there. It's minimum wage and I only work for a couple of hours everyday, but I've got my foot in the door and I can definitely learn some things. :)

And the bigger news, my Dad got a job! Our unemployment checks ran out the same week he this job materialized. It's a sales job, and not something he was considering before but since the opportunity presented itself he took it. We're not going to be rich or anything, but it's more than unemployment and it'll pay the bills. :) It involved traveling too, mainly just to Austin and San Antonio. After he settles into the job I'm going to see if I can tag along sometimes so we can hit the blues jams out there, particularly in Austin. God is good! :D

Glad to hear that things are looking up for you and your Dad TGS.Working in a guitar store has many advantages, you get to try out new gear(and give us a review of what's good or not),you're surrounded by the things you love all day long, you can pick up all kinds of tips on playing and technique from seasoned players that come through, you can get your gear at a reduced price or even cost if the boss sees that you're a committed worker and good sales person.Furthermore any job you love to do isn't work.Good luck to you and your Dad,I hope that's everything gets better from here on in.

That is good news. Glad everything worked out when they did. Every think has a reason, we just have to find ot what the reason is. Best of luck to you both.

Let us know if they move you into doing more hands on guitar stuff. The foot is in the door. Also please let me know if the place you work at is worth going to for a good professional set-up. I do one every 1 to 2 years as needed and although I love my current person, I always look for a back-up.

It's a very good place for getting a pro set up. The guitar tech is very professional, and he's been taking care of my guitars since I started playing. I've tried other guys too, but for the quality of the work, the price and the fact that he can typically do it in a week or less I've stuck with him. I'll send you an email with the name of the place if you'd like. I just don't want everybody in the world to know where I work. lol

We're a authorized Fender dealer and warranty center too. We don't have a huge selection of Fenders, but we have some good ones and Fender is one of the main brands we deal with.

That's cool, and if you are leary about me that's cool too. If you want you can send e-mail to my account, it should be in my profile info I think. Just looking for another tech, in case my usual ones at TME leave for some strange reason. Also want another place to visit for deals, especially if anauthorized Fender dealer/repair shop.
