I just started playing guitar about a year ago myself. I'm trying my hardest to make sure my daughter (who's 2) doesn't wait until she's 35 to find a musical passion. I've already bought her a toddler drumset and a ukelele she calls her guitar. I figure starting early can't hurt.

Tanner I was impressed with your post. It's refreshing to see a young man say that he appreciates and loves his parents. You are lucky to have the supporting parents you do. I just wanted to tell you with the type of attitude you have that the sky is the limit. :) Good to hear!! 8)

I received one of my greatest joys in life just a few days ago when I presented my 8 year old grand-daughter with her first real guitar, a 3/4 size acoustic. Summer school for 'Papa' begins this week'!

Tanner, wow. It's so good to hear that from someone my own age, finally!! :P I feel exactly the same way, as my parents also take the time to support my musical interests, albeit the fact that my dad is a bit less enthused at the idea of me being so keen on music. :P My mom is the biggest supporter of my goals in music, and everything else in my life. I am SO grateful to both my mom and my dad, because without them, my musical journey would have never started. I don't think I can ever thank them enough for all their love and support.

My step son an I both take lessons together, (same place, different time slots) and it's really cool. His dad is a drummer so now this kid at 11 is turning into some musical savant and catching up to me. It's cool to be able to go to the music stores and talk about gear my wife won't let us buy ha ha and it sparks conversations about music. I love telling him who the bands he likes were/ are influenced by the bands I like and who influenced them. If he wakes up one day and has lost interest it'll be a shame but it's great to have that in common.
