My rheumatologist's office just phoned with the results of the bone scan that I had 2 days ago. They did a full body scan and then did a scan of my hands and arms below the elbow, the scan showed that there was no sign of arthritis.I'm looking at that with mixed feelings,I'm releaved that's it's not arthritis but now I'll have to be investtigated further to see what's causing the debillitating pain in my hands and forarms. The Mayo Clinic has done a study and found that joint, bone and muscle can be caused by a vitamin D deficiency so I'll be giving that a go until I can get some tests done.Oh well it's back to the drawing board.

Good luck to you!

If you're not taking any kind of B-Complex vitamin, you might want to run that by your doctor too. Sometimes a diagnosis can be very difficult to get correctly.

Hi guitslinger: I'd be amazingly cautious about giving or accepting medical advice on an internet forum (medical professionals aside, obviously).

However, for what it's worth: many years ago I used to suffer joint pain that sounds much like yours, particularly in the wrists and fingers. Much against my will I was talked into taking a daily glucosamine dose - I was resistant in part because I associated it with people decades older than I was at the time!

Whadayaknow: not a twinge out of those joints from that day to this (around 10 years so far). Strange but true - make of it what you will. I certainly wouldn't start taking any kind of pill without proper medical advice...

Good luck - C

Glad your test came back clean but I can understand your frustration,I'm going through much the same, lots of joint pain and muscle stiffness and fatigue throughout my body,I go back to the rheum doc Monday and want some answers.I've been told that it's osteoarthritis, but I'm going to check out the "rickets" also.
Hang in there!

It's quite an old vitamin deficiency condition which results in poor bone formation but a reading of it will give you some idea of how vitamin D plays a role in bone metabolism, particularly with respect to calcium absorption and a calcium deficiency ensuing from a vitamin D deficiency might be an interesting player with respect to musculoskeletal pain.
As far as a vitamin B complex goes, I have one every morning. You should see how it colors your urine.  I have a shirt and tie to match, and Fender makes a couple of body finishes which would go well with that, too :!: :P

Thanks again folks for your encouragement, prayers and support. It's just a bit uncomfortable to make a fist and I pretty well have full mobility but my hands become fatigued and painful even doing something as simple as writing a sentence.I was doing some light gardening this morning and my hands and forearms have been paining relentlessly ever since. It has me puzzled to say the least as I drink lots of milk and eat a well balanced diet. Oh well some day I guess it wll be diagnosed.
