ok so im thinking about buying a attenuator
for my blues jr and one of my carvins.
i see price jumps from brand to brand
on these things.
what are some quality attenuators with fair prices?
not looking to spend a fortune ok, just want quality with a good price.

The Weber Mass attenuator is probably the best price/quality attenuator out there.

Dont bother with the THD hotplates. Any manufacturer that insists you buy another attenuator to cope with different impedance, frankly isn't worth talking about. What a bloody rip off.

Myself I use a Marshall Powerbreak. Their quite archaic and dont have any features other than impedence selection, 2 speaker outs, and a load box application.

People say attenuators change your sound. Misinformed people call it 'tone suck'. I think it's just due to the speakers not working as hard as they would do on a straight maxed out amp.

Why not build your own. Theres loads of schematics out there and it's not too hard a circuit?

i dont know if i have the hand to build my own lol.
do you have a link to kits or something?
thank you for your reply on this also.

can you even use one on a blues jr?
how do you hook these things up anyways?

I second this.

If you want to buy one Weber is the way.

not sure if it will be worth it on my blues jr. i need
to turn the power down to like 3 or 5 watts on the jr sometimes.

I am not a fan of attenuators, I have tried many of them.

If you absolutely must have one the Weber Mass is the best one on the market. Order directly from Weber and choose the options you want/need.

For the most part all of them change/mask your tone.

Yeah! I hate that too. I believe you can get prices if you google the amp, but I know what you mean. I like the sound clips though.

Eminence has come out with a speaker that has an attenuator built in.The control for the attenuator is simply a dial that goes around the magnet and by turning it either left of right you control the ammount of attenuation. They're called Flux Density Modulation speakers and there are two different models available-the Maverick and the Reign Maker you should get the info and MSRP at www.eminence.com .

Yeah!! They are awful proud of their stuff. I was looking at one of their amps because I'd seen Brad Paisley using one on stage but quickly changed my mind and bought a CS Twin Tweed (tweed circuitry) amp instead.
