Texas guitar slinger should appreciate this since she's an avid Steve Miller fan. There's an indepth interview in the August edition of Vintage Guitar Magazine.I haven't finished the article yet but he talks about T-Bone Walker teaching him lead when he was 9 ys old and his life long friendship with Les Paul....Steve knew all the blues and guitar greats up close and personal,I never realized the connections he had. There's also lots of pix of some of his special edition guitars and an especially beautiful American flag painted Strat.I got the mag in the mail today so it should be on the store shelves soon if not now.

Thanks for the heads up! :D That sounds good, I think I'll pick up a copy after my next guitar lesson. There's a bookstore nearby with a good selection of guitar magazines, including Vintage Guitar.

Guitslinger I just finished reading it myself and it was a great issue. The interview with Andy Johns was awesome too.

Glad to see him getting the recognition that he deserves. His new CD called "Bingo" is a great sounding one dedicated to the memory of Norton Buffalo.

Les Paul was his Godfather. Steve even sang a couple of tunes at his memorial service.

Does anybody know who painted the flag guitar? Maybe even where I could get one?

It was really interesting hearing him talking about his days playing blue in Chicago and how he and Howlin Wolf used to steal each others gigs.

Also said he had 450 guitars at one point including a $30,000 D'Aquisto and load of cool $800-1200 guitars. Said buying a $25,000 Strat doesn't interest him, he would rather make his own.

I've never been a big fan of his but after reading the interview I have a lot of respect for his knowledge and his life stories and will be checking out more of his work.
