Try to stick with it. Try to make your own tunes. Try putting chords together in a diffrent sequence. You can also try learning a song you want to learn to play.

I came up with a tune last night by listening to the theme song to Princess Bride of all tunes. Still a work in progress, but helping me through a dry spell. When all else fails, take a break for a couple days and come back to it later. If playing guitar loses it's fun, might be time to focus on something else for a bit.

Everyone goes though dry spells and to be honest, until 2 years ago I felt like I wasn't progressing fast enough and I have been playing for 20+ years.

Dude, guitar is fun BECAUSE it' hard. If it were easy and it only took since last summer to start playing like Clapton everyone in the world would be doing it. This isn't like getting good at Guitar Hero, ha ha.

Find small victories. You don't need to learn10 songs to feel like you accomplished something. Learn 4 bars of a riff and do it perfectly, land all your fingers at one time when you are switching chords, learn a scale and pick it perfectly: ulternating picking etc.

And remember the force will be with you... always...

You'll find the chords free of charge to just about any song at: www.chordie.com try that for a while spending too much time at scales and technical stuff will take the fun out of playing pretty quick. You'll have years to learn scales, playing guitar and learning should be fun and not a chore.Don't push yourself too hard, enjoyment is the name of the game. BTW read the note I wrote to Lady Vendetta Angel under "could use encouragement" in today's posts,it could apply to you.Good Luck.
