Whats the difference between the guitars.

Anything is good for punk, its a all encompassing genre.

The first, and only, rule of grunge and punk is that there are no other rules. Make whatever you can get your hands on work. Kurt Cobain used many different brands and styles of guitars because he would always smash them. He made whatever he could get a hold of at the time work for what he was trying to do. If you can, try out both for yourself, and the one that feels best for you is the best for what you want to do...

Grunge and punk may have re-wrote the book, but if you worry about if what you are using is appropriate, you are just reading from the book they wrote...and while that might be okay, also consider re-writing the book that they wrote...get and use what you can, and if you can't get what other people used, don't worry about it, just do it...

I think either would work just fine. Give 'em both a try and see which one you like better.

Mate you gotta be joking me. My cat is more punk than either of them two.

Real punks

MTV's insult to punk

Not really much comparison between the real pop punk band and the commercialy acceptable, mtv, lab grown version is their? (you can add offspring, nirvanah and anyone else since rancid to that category).

the clash: hell yeah! awesomeness

the ramones: eh... to "peppy" sounding for me... what i mean is its to bright and cheery for me...

the stooges: the model of what punk should be

sex pistols: see the above

agent orange: quite possibly my favorite american punk band

now for some second wave....

the Offspring: anything before Americana is awesome

Greenday: first 4 albums were the best of 2nd wave punk

Nirvana: my favorite band but not really punk or grunge... best described using a term thought on these here boards... "grunk"... or maybe punge... :?:
dont want to get into the hardcore punk bands i like as theres loads of em

but back on topic... i can try the special (and have) and its definitely a GREAT instrument... but i want to make sure im gettin the one with more distortion as thats a BIG part of my sound...
