Welcome to the forum Wesley and what tune is it going to be?

Can I suggest 'Theme For Young Lovers' by the Shadows. A nice easy one for starters and very effective too with a bit of reverb on your mim strat. Lots of open notes down at the bottom end and some very nice complimentary notes in the higher registers for contrast. Slow and smooth, nice twang.
It's one of the first tunes I learned way back in the sixties and I still play it today, it's a hot one. Also you can get Shadows backing cd's these days as well, it sounds good, you will impress if you do it.
Or something acoustic is your thing.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide on and have fun. :D

Welcome to the forum Wesley, you have great gear to learn on and a whole year is plenty of time to get down an anniversary song, the biggest problem is finding a suitable song. There's a site called Chordie that has the chords and lyrics of thousands of songs free of charge I believe the web address is : www.chordie.com I'm pretty sure that's it. Anyway I'd suggest the song "IF" by David Gates and Bread.

I've looked at a few guitar-related and vehicle modification forums and this is is by far the most informative. There is also zero drama here. Welcome and we want pics of the axe.

I am now trying to learn how to play the guitar at the age of 44. I only hope I can do it before next year. That is my 10th anniversary and the wife wants me to learn to play her a song. Wish me luck!

Hi Wesley,
I just want to say to you that you are not alone. I run a site selling guitar lessons, and one of my best selling products is guitar lessons for older people.

There are a lot of people who are not teenagers anymore, who want to learn to play guitar, and I think that is just great. I think they have a better reason then most teenagers to learn to play guitar.

Lots of young folks want to get famous, rich, get lots of girls, etc. so they buy a guitar and decide to become a famous rock star and 99.999 % of them do not succeed.

You just want a nice hobby, play some songs for your wife, you will succeed.
