Hi Forumites,

I have been away from forum for about three months due to the new gig (an IT one, not music ) that kept me quite busy. Anyhow work load has leveled to normal so I can catch up with things here.

I see Ceri has finished that burned guitar. What an awesome job.

Whats new with me. Well kept the music going despite the ton of other work.

For my b-day got myself a Fender DRRI amp (tone to die for).
I am still in search for the decent les paul.
Have been trying out in the different bands with no success.

There seems to be the two groups of bands here in Toronto. One group is bands that are very serious about the music and they are dedicated to the recording and performing and I can not afford that much time due to the family obligations and frankly and I not that technically and musically proficient yet to be a member. The other group is bands that are not serious at all and/or are beginners and I don't fit there as well.

I am having issue finding a happy middle ground. I went to some open jams and that is ok for now, however I think I need to start my own band.

I have zero experience with hiring enthusiasts/hobby musicians for that once a week rehearsal and later gig type of deal so if you guys have any ideas and tips to share I appreciate it.

Welcome back.

I feel you on the band issues. I too am trying to find a band/group that is a fit for me. Not looking for a professional gig, but not wanting to get into a band of total beginners. Keep looking.

Again, welcome back.

Welcome back danielhelc! congrats on the new gig. I'm looking for a guitar player for my band and looking for a side project too. My only suggestion is keep looking for musicians, playing those open jams and you will have a band. Just don't forget to post a vid of you playing with your band :D

Hi Daniel welcome back,if you're looking for someone to start a band move here to NL,there's a lot of jobs available in the IT sector and dozens of musicians looking to get out gigging, myself included.BTW did you know that there are more musicians per capita in NL than anywhere else in Canada? It's too bad that the majority of them are into Irish/Celtic/Newfoundland music, not that I have anything against it but it has long passed the saturation point and every week there's a new "traditional band".That's why I want to get out playing good old A55 kicking rock.

hello!

Eventually you'll find some friends like you, and I hope your search for a les paul goes well :)

Maybe you should try that fender software that lets you connect to people around the world if you can't find the right band...
