Has anyone ever used or tried a similar amp? May want to try it out.

I have not personally tried one, though I have considered getting one myself a number of times...However, someone on another forum I check out every now and then, I believe its the Agile Guitar Forum has one, and he likes it a lot...I like how it looks like a Fender Twin Reverb, though I am sure it weighs much less than one of those amps...those Twin Reverbs weigh a ton!

LVA still gassing for an amp? They're not bad for a solid state amp. Pretty loud though. And no disrespect intended but it doesn't really look like a Twin.
They're really reliable too. Some folks say it sounds like a Twin too. It doesn't. It does sound nice and you may like it. Give it a go, It's a good value for the money.

The version of the 212R in the link does not have that Twin-look as that is actually a picture of an older edition of the amp. The newer edition does sort of have a Twin-ish look from afar, as seen in this link:

i bought a FM212r used that was 2 months old and its a great amp especially for the money--i also have a Twin reverb reissue -the 212 is similar in sound and the drive and more drive channels allow distortion without getting the amp real loud--it has a ton of power--and its about 20# lighter than the twin

Lady, I used to play on one and I loved it. I traded it in to "upgrade" and always wished I had kept it. It's great for the price, especially if you can find one on sale. If you don't go with that one a super champ is pretty cool too.

It's finding it on sale that's the problem. Fender, Peavey, Marshall, and Roland are always excluded from sales, dang it. There's really no music stores like Guitar Center around me to try out amps. The mom and pop by me only has Rolands.

Lady, this is the amp I tried out
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... 5QodlmbxSw

I thought we were all talking about the same amp. FM/Frontman?
I know there's an FM head. I'm not totally up on Fenders Solid State amps, because I've always been a tube guy, but the FM212 looked interesting so I tried one out. I didn't like the drive channel all that much, buy like I said, I'm a Tube guy, but the cleans were nice and full with a nice top end without a lot of brittleness.

I had a FM 212 dsp for a while too and kind of had the same experience as 63supro. I don't think I hated it quite as much but I hear where he's coming from. I gave it (lending it to my stepson who's 11) and he loves it, but also is still learning about this stuff. It kind of all comes down to price.

My advice is find out what you like and then save for it until you can get it so you never have that "it's ok but not what I REALLY wanted" Good tone comes to those who wait,

+1 The Gas will pass (pun intended)

Why buy something twice or just settle for something? I'd save for something nice and I don't mean a Hot Rod series amp, i mean something like a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. It's light, not too loud but loud enough and you could get a nice clean used one for $650-700. Or look for something outside the Fender camp. Egnater's Tweaker is a sweet deal. I may be getting a head as a backup for my Rebel 20 or use it with an A/B switch. Great sounding amp and it's plenty loud enough to gig with.

The Marshall Class 5 is nice and simple. The little Blackheart amps are nice too and not too over the top in price range.

In a solid state amp a Line 6 Spider Jam is pretty cool too and has live jam tracks and recording capabilities. I wish I would have bought one instead of my GDec 30. It sounds so much better and the effects are a lot better.

Just remember, tube watts sound a lot louder than solid state watts. It's a current device vs a voltage device. My 6 watt Champ sounds louder than my 30 watt GDec.

I have the Frontman 212r the silverface model and I love it and for a 100 watt 2x12 combo the price just can't be beat, as far as features go on mine well it's very basic but it gets the job done and the spring reverb is also nice to have *just not while driving the country roads by my house*
