You've all heard me telling the story about the demo cd of our singer's originals, and the issues surrounding it on this forum. Well, he finally downloaded a couple of them on our "my space" site. For those of you that have access to "my space", please go the site, listen to the songs (3 of them), and tell me what you really think. Of the three songs, (Cabin Time, Brother in Crime, and The List), Brother in Crime is the original scratch vocal with just the singer and him playing the guitar. The other two songs are the band, with our old drummer, who in fact, produced the cd at his studio. Please go to:

Cabin Time - very cool twangin' guitar(s) and great vocals! I've heard songs on CMT that aren't as good as this! Nice work!

Brother In Crime - love that Nashville-style vocal intro with just acoustic.
Reminds like a cross between Dylan's Nashville Skyline and Joe Ely.

The List - Vocals could come up a bit in the mix...actually the whole mix could be better, but it's a cool tune. New country with a kick! Nice!

The band sounds tight and the rhythm section is doing what they do
real well to compliment the vocals. My only nit is more chickin' pickin' and twangy Tele style gritty solos.

Good luck! 8)

I write country songs. I am very weak as a country lead player, but can play a strong rhythm and sing country lead.

I think you have a good country band.

It may just be my computer speakers, but I can't hear the bass at all.

The songs aren't bad, but they aren't that catchy either. The story line of The Cabin is a little tuff to keep up with for a country song. It is my least favorite.

Brothers in Crime is better IMHO. I think I understand what the song is about, but it is another stretch for subject matter. (I hope you don't take me for a jerk; I just tried to listen and give an opinion.)

The List is a good song. Just redo the drum concept and I think people will dance to that one. As is, the beat stops and I can understand why people would wander off the dance floor.

I hope I have been of some help to you. I could be wrong, and understand completely if you disagree with me.

Not really my cup 'o' tea, but I have to say that it's well-played and well-recorded.

For me, the best part of all, was that each song was very different from the others. That alone , puts your band a cut above in my book.

Cabin time- It had me be boppin' to it right off. A solid country boogie, and sho nuff, a great dance number.

Brother in crime- A moving ballad, and excellent story song.

The list. A very unique piece, with excellent use of delay effects, well orchestrated, great vocals.

I feel that what i have heard, is as good as any country band. Very tight, Solid performance of all the instruments, excellent vocals, especially the lead singer. I would definitely buy your albums. I look forward to hearing you on the radio in the near future. Thanks for sharing your great talent.

I consider myself a fan of music, I like country and I like some heavy metal and most in between, tho my first love is Blues.

In general they all three were well recorded and you guy can play.
The comments I am making are no way to be taken as I didn't like the songs, I am assuming you want some feedback to how they could be improved.

With that in mind...........

Cabin time the vocals were a bit low in range, but I understand that is common in country songs, but it was too loud, it kinda was drowning out the band. Take is down I tick and raise the music up a tick and it would be prefect.

Brothers in crime Good solid song the only thing I would say is, it seemed like in the Solo's you were rushing the tempo a bit. Like I said, I love Blues and to me the notes should be given a chance to breath and flow a bit, it just seemed it was rushed through, slow it a tick down and let the notes ring a bit, I think you will find you like it better,

The List This song was my favorite of the three, but as one other said, the balance is off a bit and the third verse when you go up and repeat the first verse, it sounded again, rushed.

Please understand I like them all, I think you got something good here, it's just you asked for comments, I hope you don't think me a jerk here, I only want to help.

Cabin Time--music good, vocals bad; sounds like a drunken Hank Jr. with a cold and a bubble in his throat (like he needs to burp or something).

Brother In Crime--see above comment.

The List--I like this one all the way around--music, vocals, and all.

You have a good band, but I don't see the attraction in the lead vocalist's abilities on "Cabin Time" and "Brother In Crime"...get a better singer to sing them, and I would keep dancing; as recorded, I barely got all the way through them.

...but the songs, in themselves, aren't bad at all.

MORE COWBELL!! seriously, i enjoyed all of these tunes. the second might be a bit of a sleeper at a gig. i thought the music was very good and i'd drink cold beers all night listening to it. i didn't think the vocals were bad at all but i don't sing. i do play guitar and i really like what i heard. i'll just say job well done.
i hope things work out for your band. ya'll sound great. i'd just say keep em' up on the dance floor. that's what the owner wants to see, right?
once again, good job.

I really like Cabin Time a lot. it has a strong feeling of the type of song a group like Alabama would play. The other two were so so, but then again i am not a big country music fan.
