Tomorrow will be the 15th anniversary of Rory Gallaghers death at the age of 47 like many on here will know.

I was in bed last night and woke around 2.30am, fooled around with my partner a bit  (yeah she was awake and receptive )

and afterwards i put the radio on for a short while (like a post s*"$X)
cigerette except i dont smoke.

Anyway Bob Harris played something from Sonny Johnson i think it was, then Howling Wolf and finally Rory's Heavens Gate

Jeeze thats a great tune from one of the few white British bluesmen the another being Eric Clapton who had/have the true spirit coursing through their veins sadly no more for Rory Gallagher.

RIP

I remember seeing Taste around 1969 at the old Kiel Auditorium in St.Louis and was hooked on the spot. Great loss at that young age. Rock on Rory http://www.nme.com/video/id/7CZNuTeq9hs/search/Taste ................. 8) Mike

Theres a really good book on Rory called riding shotgun, its by his bass player Gerry McAvoy.

Outside of Duane Allman, I don't know of another TOP guitarist who played electric, acoustic and slide guitar at such a high level. To top it off,
Gallagher was a very good singer, writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (mandolin, harmonica, saxophone and sitar). What was more important than that was he was a very decent person who would talk to fans after a show, sign autographs and have pictures taken. He was a fan of many artists, blues musicians in particular and he related to the people who were HIS fans. God bless Rory Gallagher !!!

A true original. It's one thing to play blues, but its another thing to do so with as much originality as Rory did while still remaining true and honest to the music that influenced him. You couldn't deny that he was a bluesman, yet his music seamlessly incorporated Irish music, folk, rock, and even some jazz. I only saw him once, in the early eighties, but he left a huge impression on me that has only grown over time.
