That is the question. i have seen a plethora of guitar amp stands all over the place online. They come in many forms, materials, colors, and sizes. Everything from cheapie basic models at the evil empire of guitars sent her, to high priced short legged jobbers with super special state of the art high tech miracle foam sound barriers. not to mention closed cell foam rubber sound barrier wedges. Of course these items are all touted as the latest advancement in modern technology, and every one of the companies make the claim that their product is head and shoulders above all the rest. I have found forums, where they are discussed by guitar players, saying such things as "having the amp in the air, gets the highs to the audience, as well as the performer, as high frequencies cross a room in a narrow linear pattern across the room. So, OF COURSE, i'm looking to mooch EVEN MORE! sage advice from some of you kindly, and bonafide experts in the field, who can advise me thoroughly as to wether i need a stand at all, and if so, which kind would be best? As always, thank you very much indeed, for any and all assitance in this matter, that has me absolutely unconsolable at the moment!

dave

i bought the $40 job from GC. it works and does what i need it to do.
do i trust it with my blues jr on top? yes.
its my feeling that some floors rob you of tone.
beside that, i wanted my amp in my face so to speak.
i dont know that there is any differences in stands honestly.
mine is the simple "on stage stands". i love it.
gonna get 2 more, 1 for my princeton, and the other for
my peavey.

Yeah, i really like onstage products too. i have a couple of their boom mic stands, a great guitar stand, and pa speaker stands, which are all great products. I think GC has some off brand cheapo ones too, but i'm old, and somewhat addlepated. It's tragic, the row that i hoe! If i told you my heartbreaking story, you would be in tears, offering to send me money to comfort me in my pain and much suffering! So please, by all means, feel free to hit me up for my address, so you can donate to the let's help out poor, sickly, and very pitiful davemercier fund! And my Mom is very ill as well, by the way.......*sniffle, SOB!*

Stagg makes a good stand for about 15 to 20 bucks for smaller amps like the blues jr.

To me, an amp sitting on a hard surface, like a wood floor, has a better sound than the same amp on a soft surface. So instead of spending $20+ dollars on a tilt-back stand or amp wedge, I built one. All it does is let the amp tilt back about 25 degrees, and give it a hard surface to sit on, and the sound is MUCH improved. I always try to build gear before I buy it, and it's saved me over $80 to count (I also built a pedalboard).
