When I was about 13 or 14 (1972 - 73) my brother came home from college and had brought me a used cherry red Ventura ES 335 copy. I think it was a MIJ guitar and recall he spent $60.00. It had a bigsby type trem tailpiece, with a rosewood neck on top of maple. The action was quite nice and a lot better than my Harmony acoustic. I treasured it and spent many hours on it. However, I knew nothing about setting intonation or was just lucky to get it tuned to itself. The neck was kind of weak and when you pulled down on the trem you could see the head move.

I recall putting a big American Eagle decal on the back. It was one of those that was made like a model airplane decal. Soak it in water and it would slide of the paper and onto your intended. It peeled off very soon along.

I let it go sometime around 1987 to a pawn shop. I was hot to buy something else with the money I don't recall what it was. But it was not another guitar for I had given up on playing and did not play again until 2009.

I regret letting it go, regret so much, :( and wonder were my little red guitar is. I hope someone is taking good care of it!

We always had a nylon string at home as a kid but I vaguely remember my parents buying me a Cort, some kind of grey or pewter body with pointy headstock, cant remember model if any. Then when I was around 15 I upgraded to a MIJ Strat, black with white pg. I think it had a kahler bridge of some kind, back then in europe MIJ were considered cheaper than MIM, that was over 20 years ago...

My first electric guitar was a blue Strat type guitar made by Sears or some department store like Coast to Coast or Monky Wards. I got it one Christmas when I was about 10 or 11 years old in 1965 along with an amp with a 5" speaker and 5 watts. I had a brother in law who worked at a body shop so I had him paint it a sparkle blue. I tried putting better tuning gears on it and cracked the headstock, and that was the end of it. I did better on my 2nd electric tho. It was a used '61 Strat I paid $100 for from the town hippie who lived in a room above the Greyhound Bus Depot in 1967. The thing was beat to death, and had no case. When I went to his room to buy it, I remember he opened the door about 3" wide and stuck the guitar thru it to me, and I handed him the $100-never saw his face.
I sanded down the body to the wood, and cleaned up the hardware. Kept it for about 5 years and sold it for $300.

An Aria Pro II Cardinal Series. Kind of an SG type guitar that had a mini switch so you could change to in or out of phase. It sounded nice and the action was good but it was extremely neck heavy. It was a good first electric but I have no desire or need to own one like it again.

1965 Mustang, bought new. Had a Vox Berkely II Super Reverb to power it. It was one of the earlier, all- tube issues before they went solid state Both pieces are long gone..Kinda wish I still had the amp................ 8)

My first electric guitar was a Strat-clone. It was white, had all the water slides of a Fender except the Fender logo. My first name brand was a Jackson V HH with a double locking tremolo system. I wish I still had that one, but youth and stupidity got a hold of me and I traded it for a BC Rich Warlock. What my friend did to that Jackson was criminal, he stripped
it for parts and the body was used as an ashtray.

My parents bought me a 1980 Gibson LP Custom for my 15th Birthday. Thus began my hate affair with Gibsons. Nothing but problems with that guitar. Warped neck, poorly soldered electronics and absolutely substandard fretwork. I was thrilled to get this guitar but so very disappointed at how bad it was. Plus Gibson was absolutely terrible with warranty work.
ABS :D

My first guitar was a cheap acoustic that I borrowed from a friend for a few months. Then, my first electric guitar was a Fender Mexican-Made HSS Stratocaster. That is still the only electric I own.

Well what do you want, Gibson only takes 4 weeks to build a guitar. :)

I had a POS Growler by Palmer guitars. I only had it for a short time before i got rid of it for a 88' series 10 bentley... wish i still had the Series 10. That was kind of a cool guitar.
