I chose rock, blues, country and jazz.

My first choice is Soul/Funk/R&B though. 8)

I like Bluegrass because I am a big fan of Alison Krauss and Union Station. I did not see a Bluegrass answer so I picked Country even though I'm not the biggest Country fan.

You left out many genres, especially classical, many Forum members myself included, are classical fans.I have a huge collection of classical music-over 200 Mozart alone-and find that listening to it builds my ability to compose, play leads and complimentary chords. While in Miami recently I was turned on to Latin and Salsa music,it is so lively and has such an uplifting beat,if you haven't listened to Latin or Salsa music you should give it a listen. As for rap and hip-hop I don't even consider them music, they are mainly just poetry(if you can call rhyming words to B1TCHE5 and H0s poetry)recited to a drum beat.A lot of the metal that I hear is so bad that I can't change stations fast enough.Death and Thrash Metal are so dischordant and the vocals nothing but gutteral screams, that they have absolutely no musical merit. The lightening fast appregios and ubiquitous sweep picking have no soul or emotion in them and are just displays of technical ability.Give me Buddy Holly,The Beatles,The Who,Tom Petty, Apples in Stereo any day,I just can't go the cacaphony that's masquerading as music these days.

I play and sing mostly contemporary Christian, and worship music, but I gotta have my blues man, and classic rock too!

Count me among the classical fans as well. :P

Of the genres in the list, I'd go with blues. 8)

I like Gospel, Classical, Folk, "Outlaw", Jazz, Blues, Country, Rockabilly, 50's and some 60's Rock. select 70s, 80s and 90s even the 00s.
Whatever appeals to me, I guess.
I am not into punk, grunge, and the more extreme metal stuff.
Slash is a great player of his generation but I also like Les Paul (the man).

IMHO,
A Les Paul and Leo Fender collaboration (ala Paul/Gibson) would have been an interesting mixture. Of course, we' might not have the variety we do today, but I wonder what the two of them would have come up with had they ever worked on a guitar together.
