[quote="cvilleira"][quote="belly65"][quote="cvilleira"] made paid %2.89 of the total income tax collected. These are the figures from the IRS

People think the rich don't pay taxes when its proven they do IRS number are not lying. The government is not going to create jobs but it can regulate and tax them away.

IRS numbers not lying??? When did they ever start telling the truth?
The IRS needs to go too. Big time.

Can we start arguing about semantics now?

Amazing.............
It is amazing that the majority of our Nation has been populated by Christians and most of its leadership since the beginning have been Christian. Sure there is nothing official that says we have to be Christian like some places in the world that require Islamic law. Today over 75% of the U.S. population is Christian. How could it be said that we are not a Christian nation. What would you call it an Islamic nation or a atheist nation?

Amazing

RetroV,
I am keeping My fingers crossed on the other property for sure.
Lots of homes out there for sale but I think we would have little problem renting it if I can get the price right. Extra income would be little but future may be good for making it up when we do sell.

Admittedly, I haven't read any post other than the OP's.

Having said that...

Let me take a look inside my wallet...

Now, let me look at my bills...

A glance at my latest paycheck...

Lastly, I'm checking (what's left) in the ol' bank account...

NO FREAKIN' WAY IS IT GETTING BETTER!!!

Hopefully and sincerely, YMMV.

If it flunks the "Martian" test, it's obvious that things are sad.

Why did our President say this at this time

Obama: "Mexicans" Were Here "Long Before America Was Even An Idea"
www.realclearpolitics.com
"Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land." Mexico declared its independence on September 16, 1810. It was recognized on September 27, 182...

and how does it help our economy healthcare education or any of the issues facing our country now?

The man is a #$#@ all I can say. If his handlers aren't there to help. Some one should tell him the Country he is president of existed before there was a country of Mexico as you said solidbodylove. They need to teach him about the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Any guy who don't now how many states they are what do you expect. And he has a Juris Doctor, Bachelor Degree
And he's is making economic decisions that effect us all along with his advisors that have the least amount of public sector experience of any administration in history. See how thats working out!!!! Not like being a community organizer and a Law Lecturer for your career.

Arjay the gold bug, good for you. I don't get it so have stayed away. I thought it went up when there is inflation, won't be any for quit a while. I guess it also goes up when everything else is going to hell in a hand basket. My bonds are still working, every time I think its time to sell them treasury yields go down.

I picked up some LVS, not because people are rushing off the Vegas but because the chinese are rushing off to macau, and they do like to gamble. Its the only way to beat Vegas, buy some. Also BEN, people may not be spending or buying houses like they used to and need to top up depleted retirement funds.

I'm still worried about US real estate. The mark to market rule for bank was suspended. So the banks don't have to write down the value of mortgages to the value of the underlying property. So a million dollar mortgage on a property now worth 500 is still sitting on the banks books at a mil. They only have to write it down when it changes hands. That's my take anyway, is this the other shoe that has yet to fall?

CV, on point and crystal clear, I'm so exasperated my head hurts, I want the economy to get better, heck, I want this President to do better, I just think now that none of this group is worth a nickel and they most certainly don't give a hoot about America's economy, how could it be better when they keep making it worse or so it seems.

Part of it.

The larger issue is the Fed's continuance of inflating the money supply (thus decreasing the dollar's value) to the point at which the dollar is no longer regarded -- or accepted -- as the world's reserve currency. When that occurs, as it likely may, the value of cash will plummet and bonds (local, state, and federal) will become "black holes" since the "backed by the full faith and credit of the US Government" guarantee will be shown for the absolute sham that it is.

The end of days theory, you gold bugs think Dr. Doom is way too cheerful. But if it works, it works, end of story.

And for us outside the US looking in we used to think if the US gets a cold we get pneumonia. Not sure what to think anymore. Your fed's haven't done anything different than most other countries. The governments saved the financial systems and now the governments are the problem.

Anyway, is the economy getting worse, we'll know in six months. In the mean time place your bets.

Plus as said on the housing issue when the property is going to be sold as a short sale it has to reflect the current value and the current owner is responsible for the difference and in most cases files to get out of the debt. Mean while the bank gets back a portion of the money loaned an is not stuck with a house that is closed on and try's to sell for more then its worth. And the banks house taking a lose and setting empty a long time and thats after 4 to 6 months of getting the owner out with no payments. Saves the bank some money lost and the current owners debt at filling is less. Just getting all to do!!!!

PS make sure you have good title insurance to cover any future claims or leans.

I will say this to any of the tea party pumpers in this thread...do you really believe any of the tea party candidates or republicans are really the answer to solving our economic problems?

Absolutely not!

What this nation clearly needs is more compassion fascists, more academic dilletantes, and more socio-political utopians -- none of which have ever had to support their own existences or assume responsibility for anything that they do.

Ayup......ABSOLUTELY.

Enjoy the kool-aid!

Arjay

Bitter party of one...bitter party of one.

I take your witty cleaver sarcasm as an indication that you are a tea party pumper.

So maybe you can answer a question for me... The tea party candidates and the majority of the republican party are calling for the continuation of laissez faire deregulationist economic policies that are the cause of the current economic crisis. How is voting any of them into office going to solve are current economic crisis?

Why do we have to label our nation as a Christian nation which you did in this thread? The minute you do that it implies that non-Christians are not welcome. At the core of are nations founding principles is the United States is a place that welcomes all comers regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, and national origin. We have not as a nation always lived up to these principles. Again by labeling our nation as Christian or any other religion that implies that others are not welcome.

Wouldn't it be better if we are going to label are nation to leave religion out of the label and use something that more clearly embodies the principles of are nation like...the U.S. is a pluralistic democratic republic?

I'm still trying to get over the word "Handler" used to describe the Presidents advisors. Meaning what? Why was that term even necessary? Not defending the Presidents ignorant statement regarding Mexico. Bush was pretty guilty of some pretty comical and ignorant statements too. Did he have "handlers"?
