Maryland employers cut 5,700 jobs in August, the Labor Department said Tuesday.

How could anybody say things look optimistic. Inexperienced leadership is failing us at a alarming rate. Nothing done the last two years has done anything to create jobs but has just added to the decline of work. Bama needs to bring business people into the administration that no whats needed to create jobs and throw the socialist to the curb.
Of last 18 Presidents all but 4 made there cabinets up over 40% or more private sector. Clinton ,Carter, Kennedy cabinets were about 30% private sector. Bama his cabinet is made up of less then 8% private sector experience. These people don't have a clue, we reached a low because someone can read a Teleprompter and sound good to voters.

In case you missed it the NBER yesterday said the recession ended in June 2009.

They are the only ones who knew.

They are a non profit organization paid for by the feds, so they're doin' just fine.

We have had nothing but inexperienced assclowns in office for decades on both sides of the isle. Our government needs a serious revamping and I'm not talking trading Republicans for Democrats. I still vote Libertarian. I'd rather vote for something I believe in and not get it than vote for something I don't believe in want and get IT. Maybe this time around everyone will lay low on the abortion and !@$ marriage issue and gays in the military and get back to brass tacks. McCain and Palin tried to pawn their family values off on the country and it didn't work. This is not just a Christian nation and never was. It's a melting pot of many religions and cultures. Some of the stuff that Limbaugh, Beck and the rest of the extreme right are pretty frighting too. Half of the stuff they spout is just weird and many times half truths. The way the elections work is that who ever has the most money wins. A lot of fine candidates fall to the wayside just because they can't afford the advertising. :?

No one on either side has the answers for the mess that they and the banks created. Instead of catering to the rich and big corporations who get tax breaks while sending all our jobs overseas, how about giving a small business owners a real break?

I think you are wrong about it never being a Christian nation, and the bunk we are a melting pot. You want to live here you need to be an American First and live the American Dream and leave the culture you are running from behind The melting pot theory and wanting to satisfy individual cultures has done nothing but pulled as further apart and keeps racism alive and well. 1960's melting pot love one another is a joke our ancestors came here and learned the language and wanted to be American they wanted to assimilate.

The rich are who create jobs the more you go after the rich the more they will send it away just as I would do if it made me more money and anyone else would do the same. Unions have to let go of some of the strangle hold in order to keep jobs here. We need to make the country friendly towards business not over regulate and attack them at ever turn.The top 20% income people pay %80 of the taxes collected and %20 percent falls on Middle class population then you have the low income population. Less then %50 percent of the people of Baltimore pay any tax at all and they get returns. Then you throw in all the programs that have been brought forth since the sixties. Tens of millions of illegal aliens. We are the first generation to be worst off then our parents , what do you think caused that? Look at the laws and regulations of the last 50 years. Not only is the Economy in serious trouble but the Nation is!!!! We need leadership that knows what it is doing and is honest with the people. Face fact I current leader got elected for a reason other then his knowledge people just don't want to say it.

And no it hasn't always been a Christian nation. "One Nation Under God" wasn't in the original Pledge of Alligence. The pledge was written in 1892 by the socialist Francis Bellamy. Here's a brief history http://www.slate.com/id/2067499/

I do agree everything's huge mess. I feel that corporations are just using regulating to move jobs to other countries just to exploit slave labor and fatten their own wallets. They don't create jobs here anymore. It's a joke.

I also find it funny that everyone thinks this whole mess could be fixed in a short time and they believed the hype one man was spouting and voted him our president. McCain wouldn't have been able to fix it either. You would think they would all work together collectively for the good of the nation instead of the us vs. them attitude that's going on now.
It makes me sick.

I met McCain on a grip and grin photo shoot while he was visiting a local large business looking for campaign contributions and he was pretty clueless as to what the average working man was going through. They threw me out in the hallway while they had a closed door meeting. Go figure. I'm sure all politicians do the same thing. The middle class and small business owner gets none of the tax breaks because we can't afford to make huge campaign contributions.

I'm a seriously fiscally conservative voter. I can't wait to see what happens next and how the "sheeple" vote. Shame on anyone who pulls one party lever in the voting booth or worse yet, doesn't vote at all. I've voted across all party lines and always will vote for the person I feel will do the best job regardless of party affiliation.

\Well lets see in 2007 the top %1 percent of AGI earners paid a total of %40.42 of the total income tax collected. The top %10 adjutsed gross income people paid %71.22 of the income tax collected. People earning $32,679. per year which is the bottom %50 made paid %2.89 of the total income tax collected. These are the figures from the IRS

And yes it has always been a Christian Nation!!!!

Now economy.
Companies need to bring back manufacturing and the goverment needs to make them want to. The best and only way is incentives we have put ourselfs out of that type of employment because of pure cost of it. I don't have the answers but putting one class against the other does not help. When its cheaper to make a TV in China then ship it around the world then to make it here and ship accross the state something is wrong. Who knows how to fix that?
