What as happened to the Italians? They usually have a very strong national team, their top players seem to have got too old. Maybe their younger players will step up to the mark in the next game. I am accustomed to seeing them as one of the strongest european sides.
I expect England to be much better tomorrow. Time to start playing.

Actually, Italy's average age now is about 28 years old, a couple of years older than the general. Brazil is the oldest in average age, at over 29 years old, though definitely not because of a lack of new talents. England and Australia come right behind if I can remember.

Italy is a team that usually starts very slow in World Cups, but they get their game together as the competition goes on... as I heard an italian saying once "they always have to suffer a lot it". France is a bit like that too (thought they lost today 2x0 to Mexico, only a miracle can save them now) however, in their case there's that feeling in the air that they shouldn't be there.

Every four years I become a soccer freak and can't get enough of the World Cup.

When it's over I don't even think about the sport.

Well soccer just isn't my bag baby!...(voice of Austin Powers-lol)
Just can't ever get into it. Maybe I'm to old school. I do love how
everyone else in the world gets into it though! Seems fun :-)

Word coming from South Africa today, suggest's four of the North Korean squad are missing. An official ( stop laughing at the back) statement will be made at 17.00 GMT, by North Korean officials. I pity their families back home, if they have legged it

FIFA is of course denying it. I can't find much press on it right now. All I can think of is "of all the places to seek asylum, South Africa would be the last place I would choose". Let's hope this isn't true though, so far there have been few incidents at these games, or at least few that have been reported.

Good grief, have you ever been there? Try it: it's fab!

Mind you, might not be quite so nice after North Korea have torpedoed it; which seems to be their standard response to anything they don't like, these days...

Cheers - C

PS Four and half hours to go, for those of us in my neck of the woods...

Squeeky nether regions Ceri, Oh and it's" FAB" may well end up a swear word soon, to close to Fabio if his plan goes down the pan me thinks

The USA team did well today, I didn't see it all but it looked like they should have won, nothing wrong with the third goal they scored. Curious decision by the ref, every Slovenian defender grabbed hold of every US forward, certainly no free kick to Slovenia.
Anyway, England tonight, I'm expecting big things, a much better performance, 2-0 at the very least. Let's see.

Dammit, I missed all of today's games, I had to follow Germany 0 x 1 Serbia and England 0 x 0 Argelia by radio! This is getting kind of unusual in these portable HD TVs and Iphones etc times!

Things are getting more interesting now, with some of the favorites having quite a few upsets.

Yep some of the refereeing decisions are turning this world cup into a farce, I wonder sometimes how they can carry on after making a call only to have it replayed on the large screen and find out he was wrong, the argument for the use of technology to be used has been going on for a decade at least but still FIFA wont budge, every other major sporting event has moved with the times in this regard,  it's like pleading with a bunch of schoolkids who when questioned their reply is " it's my ball so my rules"

FIFA are full of s"%$e in my opinion just like the olympic commitee, just full of old men using it for the crack.

I reckon Algeria was robbed last night, kept wondering whether if they scored England would actually wake up, on the evidence not much chance though.
