the key to the Germany Spain game will be that Spain will shut down the counter attack that Germany has, Spain has the best midfield in the entire world cup and Germany hasn't played a team that can control possession yes. Spain can control the possession game on anyone and that will limit the chances for Germany to counter attack like they did against England and Argentina. Spain also has a much better defense than England Argentina or anyone Germany has faced.

I have reassessed it, I think 2-1 sounds more likely. I can't see anyone, aside from a day where everything goes their way, scoring 3 goals on Spain...but my gut (read: bias and hope) tells me a 1-1 draw with a pk shootout going to Spain.

Lets see, let's see! I'm sure it will be an exciting game! By the way, I remembered I have a "cousin" in Criciúma, Paraná  but I have never been in the Brazilian south.

Good game! Uruguay have played well throughout the tournament, I have been very impressed with their football. However in the end we have an all European final.
I hope it's Holland - Spain

Well my sleeper team took an exit today! Uruguay's luck has finally run out. If they had Suarez today i think they would have pulled out a victory but congrats to Netherlands, they played well and are very deserving. I think they will give Germany a good game should the Germans advance, but I think Spain would beat them should Spain advance.

Of course they will be back to full strength for the final with DeJong back.

Yeah Uruguay played some nice stuff in this tournament, sour point for me was Suarez handball in the Ghana game, should have been Ghana playing today IMO, looking forward to the next semi, Spain my tip to win it from the start I think might just edge it depending on the line up, Torres has to sit this one out for me, just not doing it Fernando, others champing at the bit for a game who are fit, Pedro surely has to get the nod for this one his form with Barca and having Xavi and Iniesta knowing his game is a stick on for me, Fabregas also deserves a start, I think Germany will be their usual polished self, but going for the Spanish to out fox them.

BlackCatBone made a good analisys about what Spain has to do to win. We just need to see if they will put the plan to practice. I just read Fabregas is injured aaaaand may not play tomorrow. but that's only a maybe. He broke the leg a few months before the Cup and he started to feel some pain again. He was being quoted as the favorite to substitute Fernando Torres, who failed to awe in the tournament. Raul Albiol is out.

BCB - Bahia is actually Northeast (the capital, Salvador, is 12 hours away from me by car)- mostly known for the beaches and warm sea, sunny most of the year and not super crowded (except for Carnival). Salvador is certainly a nice place to visit, very peculiar culture there. the North region is the amazon forest area, where you can go explore the jungle, rivers and try all sorts of different foods and fruits and of course, meet brazilians (at least that's what I think most tourists do there :D)

Ghana should have been playing today if we went against what the rule book states. DOn't get me wrong I hated to see them lose after the handball and missed PK's but according to the rules of the game the red card and pk was the correct call.

I've said all along I was surprised that Torres even played in this WC given his health status. I think he will still start and at the half they will bring on Pedro or Llorente, hopefully Pedro, especially if Fabregas doesn't play. What I can not understand is why in the world David Silva has not been playing.

I figured Germany has been firing on all cylinders and they have to have an off match at some point. The possession style that Spain plays will limit their attacking abilities. Spain has a better defense that England or Argentina as well. One thing you can count on is this will be a very fast paced game with both teams flying around the pitch. Probably my bias as a Spain fan telling me we pull this one out. Either way I hope for a good match and not a blow out.

Yeah SIlva will be in on the left side where he is better if Fabregas is out. I still think Torres will start and be subbed in at half or 3/4 point, even though he hasn't been scoring he does demand a lot of attention from the defense.

I mainly hear a lot about the women in Bahia being out of this world, but of course the Brasilian women are second to none aside from the Colombian women. :D

Good news for you BCB, Fabregas is playing!

Neither Brazilian nor Colombian, the "muse" of the Cup in Brazil is the Paraguayan Larissa Riquelme:

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/06/ ... 34x469.jpg

I don't know how she became popular here (but I know why 8) ), but probably started with forums and sports websites posting pictures of her cheering for Paraguay during their matches. Instantly, every Brazilian TV channel was going to Paraguay for an interview, with the excuse of finding how much she likes football, and if she's gonna be naked in some magazine soon

She is a popular lingerie model, like one of the Victorias Secret girls from Paraguay. I had seen some articles about here recently. Supposedly she is going to do a nude run through the streets in Asuncion as a "gift" to the players even though they failed to win the world cup. I'd imagine she is also quite skilled with a Vuvuzela! Not bad at all, but pretty average by the standards of what I have seen in Colombia and Peru and surely by the standards of what you have seen in Brasil.

Definitely good news that Fabregas is playing, although if they put him on the left and leave Silva out of the starting line up Del Bosque is just limiting the offense. Silva needs to be on the left where he is comfortable and stronger and Fabregas needs to play up front with Villa.

Hopefully the football gods will be on our side today!

She's a very typical latin american, for sure, but what is playing here is also the fantasy side of things.. hard to explain  the TV + internet factor  Just remembered the Venezuelan women are considered very very fine 8)

I wonder what happened to Davi Silva as well, he was one of my favorite players.. along with Joaquín on the right side of the field.

Yeah rules BlackCat, a bit of Buford T would be welcome in situations like that
