Haha - yes, I want Germany to win for the same reason. We want our teams to at least have been kicked out by the tournament winner!

Absolutely right! It's nearly always his fault - whatever we're talking about! :D

I hope he is going to watch Argentina play today!!

He did!

Germany doing the basics right again, with very hard working teamwork. That's all but enough apparently.

They are in blue today  by the way, I'm crazy for that black shirt the german team uses.

Regarding Germany x Argentina, Mick Jagger was there once more, probably going for Argentina :) I expected a 2x0... not a 4x0! The people here had many chances to use all the fireworks that weren't used for yesterday! each German goal was causing a roaring around here.

Congratulations to Spain but they had to work hard for the win.

should have been a red card on Alcaraz when he took down Villa in the box, they didn't call that but the rule states 'take down on a player in a scoring situations" = red card. The after the missed PK by alonso the goalie took out Fabregas and made no effort to make a ply on the ball. The encroachment on the PK was also questionable as that most never gets called.

So yes, we had to work hard and overcome a few no calls, but all things aside I am happy with the win. having to work a little harder for it will build character and gave more momentum going into the next match v Germany.

That being said Germany 3- Spain 1.

:(

Although I am hoping for more magic and a win from my boys.

I've been backing the Dutch throughout this tourney, I'd love to see them lift the world cup. I had hoped England would do well, they're getting as bad as Scotland

The referee should have made the Paraguayan team repeat the penalty kick too, since the whole Spanish team invaded the penalty area before he kicked.

Germany 3x0. If Spain had that much trouble with Paraguay, I don't think they will do much Germany.
Holland may come too overconfident after beating Brazil and Uruguay may take profit on this...

Allowing for the inconsistency of the refereeing even though they mostly do ok, it was likely because the opposing team were halfway to the penalty taker when he kicked the ball. The obvious conclusion being that they would have an unfair advantage had the ball rebounded.

What on earth are we gonna do when the world cups over, it kinda gets under your skin (and thats from a confirmed non football watcher) normally.

the key to the Germany Spain game will be that Spain will shut down the counter attack that Germany has, Spain has the best midfield in the entire world cup and Germany hasn't played a team that can control possession yes. Spain can control the possession game on anyone and that will limit the chances for Germany to counter attack like they did against England and Argentina. Spain also has a much better defense than England Argentina or anyone Germany has faced.

I have reassessed it, I think 2-1 sounds more likely. I can't see anyone, aside from a day where everything goes their way, scoring 3 goals on Spain...but my gut (read: bias and hope) tells me a 1-1 draw with a pk shootout going to Spain.

Hahaha - I've a feeling you're pushing your luck on that one, far as this Forum's concerned anyhow!

And it's a long time till the cheese rolling season too. Can we hold out?

For those that have never seen it, that vid is going to be a little confusing...

Go back to work

I want Uruguay to win today, but it looks like Holland is making it to the final. Would be cool to see Holland winning, since they don't have a World Cup title. Uruguay has two, but it's been 60 years they don't make it to a final.
