I watched it too. Argentina was keeping the possesion of the ball over 60% of the time, Messi had many nice moments, but no goal so far. The Greek goalkeeper saved the team in many of Argentina's opportunities. In the other hand, it was an easy game for Argentina's goalie, since Greece didn't attack very much. They were just waiting for the goal to come "naturally".

So far we have Argentina x Mexico and Uruguay x South Korea confirmed for the octaves.

ditto to both

for the USMNT, now no more excuses. No more what ifs or yeah buts or "disallowed" goals. Time to show you belong in the next round and not get embarrassed. All the talk of how you deserved these disallowed goals and how you are a world power in futbol better not be just buildup that is going to end in disappointment for all the fans you have gotten all gassed up.

Looking like either Ghana or Germany in game 1.

Personally, I'm against "live replays" for polemic faults and goals during a match. Part of the beauty and excitation to me, is the fact that it's not perfect, just like us. Bringing too much technology kills the human side of everything.

edit: I would agree that refereeing is weird this time: some referees are distributing yellow cards like crazy and others are letting violent plays go unchecked :? we need a leveling of criteria in a hurry.

All I've got to say is... phew!

The ball went in the net. We'll have to settle for that, at this stage. Germany in the next round? Oh my...

We got there, had to sweat a little towards the end but we made it. Congrats to the USA too, let's all just sit back and enjoy the moment for a while.
I hope England have to play the USA again. When would that be?...around about the final?.... haha...nice thought though eh?

That would be in the semi-finals, if both win their next 2 matches.

Yeah congrats to England and USA, who knows what will happen next, thought the ref in the England/Slovenia game was good, not too fussy and controlling like some.

Milner played great what a cross for the Defoe goal, thankfully the donkey Heskey was kept off the pitch till late on.

Though the smart money suggests Germany may actually be easier at the moment than Ghana.

Still: if you want to win the cup you've got to beat the best of the rest, so ultimately what does it matter who you come up against? Win - or leave.

BTW: Heskey IS a donkey, isn't he? I'm bored with hearing people excusing him.

Cheers - C

Yep!

Looks like Italy too! Slovakia's team had a great recovery, they were being criticized as hell in their country, and I really coulnd't imagine them advancing to the next phase.
