I will be watching every match. I am pulling for both Spain and Chile. I hope England spanks the US and would like to see the the usual powerhouses like Brasil and France fair well. I won't miss a minute of the matches believe me.

got ya. i am a major football fanatic, but the opening ceremonies never do much for me unless it is the Olympics. Otherwise I say lets get the matches started. I can do without all the dancing and chanting unless it is in the stands.

I'll be watching the World Cup. Looking forward to the England - USA game, I think that will be a very tight one, maybe a draw. The US have come on a lot in recent years and they are now quite strong, should be a good game.
If I had to pick the winner of the cup, I would have to go with Argentina but that could change as the competition makes progress but good luck to everyone.
Lets go!!! :D

Other than the victory against Spain and the 1st half showing against Brasil, what makes you say this? I hear this from USMNT fans all the time but I don't see it. I know the USMNT fans are often a delusional lot (as can many fans) but I can't see how they have really gotten any better than the past 2 WC's. New faces yes, but still I don't see how they have made leaps and bounds in the world game. Granted the Spain win was impressive, but we all know in football like any sports even the sunshines on a dogs behind once in a while. What makes you think the match will be a draw or close? The USMNT defense is porous and pathetic.

Hmm. Sadly, it ain't only down to how one side performs.

See where I'm going with that?

Anyone see England - Japan? Not how you want to win a game...

elaborate. I feel like in a match with as much importance as the Cup it will come down to how one side executes better than the other, unless some unforeseen issue should appear...in which case lets hope it goes in favor is the USMNT or we will be able to hear them whine from SAfrica. Truthfully, the game Saturday is important but not as important as their matches against Algeria and Slovenia and whether or not they win those matchups.

The result is not a foregone conclusion when the side that on paper should win easily is capable of playing so bionically badly on occasion.

Oh well. Keeps things exciting, I s'pose...

right well no one can account for something like that...however if the USMNT won by a deflect the fans would frame it as if the dominated the entire 90 mins and were owed the goal.

agreed, which is why i laughed in the faces of the USMNT fans saying, "well we beat Spain, so that makes us a top team in the world, top 5 at the very least."
