There are a number of reaons why they may have this policy. There are as others have stated, health codes and hygeine issues that they have to abide by, or may even be on probation or something due to prior infractions...

Plus a couple other things to consider is that its like the beach...Have you ever seen a person wearing a bikini or Speedo that should have put those items away either 10-20 years or 50-100 pounds ago? Not fun. Who wants to see that?

Or some guys just get stupid when you mix alcohol with partially, or fully, exposed breasts and/or accidental unintentional flashing/exposure occurs from wearing a tank top...Then you get a bunch or rowdy drunk guys urging some girl to expose herself, her boyfriend gets mad and starts fighting someone, the cops get called, the liquor license gets taken away, and the bar closes all because someone wanted to wear a tank top....

...you could always do the needful to open your own bar which which would allow tank tops.

And perhaps ultimately change that "privilege," based on xperiences.

On I was in had a sign that said, No hats, no tank tops, no credit, no whining.

Of admittedly little relevance to this thread, I drive past a large construction site during my daily commute. There is a large sign posted near the entrance that specifies hardhats and "shirts with 4 inch sleeves, minimum", among other things.

While I have no problem with business owners specifying what you can and can't wear on their property, it seems strange to me that construction workers can't wear tank tops while working outdoors in the summer.

To the OP, I agree with the rest here - his bar, his rules.

Let's face it - tank tops on guys are not especially classy. His bar, his rules.

No tank tops because:

1. Some retards think that "wife beaters" are tank tops (it's an undershirt A-hole)
2. no on wants to see your hairy armpits
3. no one wants to smell your nasty armpits
4. no one wants to see your hairy back
5. no one wants to see your man boobs hanging out the side of your tank top (ya fat basturd)
6. most folks who wear tank tops don't have the "guns" to warrant the tank top.

The tank top is just a poor clothing choice.
