So the Maiden Tour kicks off tonight in Dallas. I see them next month... I'm going to have a hard time fighting temptation to look and see what the set list wil be.

How about you folks, if your favorite artist was touring, would ya look at the set list?

My favorite group tends not to post their set list till AFTER the show is over and sometimes it is even months later. I always figured it was posted so that those who missed the show could see what they missed. Occassionally I see IG actual on stage setlists show up on ebay, with all the changes penciled in. IG always maintained that they sit down to dinner everynight before the show and discussed what they were gonna play and the order in which they were gonna do it. Sort of gave each of them a chance to input if they were tired of anything, or to add a fan favorite. So that I guess that is why they CAN'T post ahead!

I'd just wait and be surprised at the show. :)

After the show is over go and hover around the stage and if you're able to catch one of the roadies attention ask them to hand you the set list that the band (or your favorite band member) used. Nine out of ten time they'll give it to you. Most of the time they just do it to get you out of their hair, but it works. That's how I got a few set lists from some of my favorite bands, including Jimmie Vaughan last time I saw him. And it's even cooler if you have a chance to get them to autograph the set list. 8)

I see Iron MAiden Friday at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Theater in The Woodlands, Texas. (which is just north of Houston) I have to admit, I am stoked about going. I know all their songs that are on albums, so interested to see what I do not know.

I'm not a fan of Iron Maiden (infact I don't like them at all), but I hope you have a good time!

P.S. I probably wouldn't look at the setlist and instead be surprised when I go.

Unless they have changed how they tour, Pearl Jam changes their set list every night...or at least they used to...Thats why they have CDs, or maybe had (as they may be out of print now), live CDs available for every show they had during their tours around 2001-2003...Maybe they still do it now too, I am not sure...

But back to the original question, I usually don't look up a bands set list before I see them as I prefer to experience the live experience with no expectations of what I heard I should expect to happen...

Can't wait to hear it.

I took a quick glance as i couldn't resist. I'll be sure NOT to memorize it. I'm definately not you tubing anything either as i don't want to ruin the surprise of what the stage set is or what Eddie will come out looking like.

UP THE IRONS!!!!

enjoy yourself... of course... how could you not at a Maiden show?

The Maiden show was freaking awesome!!!! You already know the set list...we got 3 encores. Eddie was...well you'll see. I hope the concert you go to they release the devil too. They played 2 songs from the new album, the rest were from other albums. I cannot wait for the new album, the 2 songs sounded great. In total there were 3 songs I did not know, but they rocked. It was almost 3 hours just for Maiden. I just glad I got to see them one more time, my last Maiden concert was the Powerslave tour. I spent 40 bucks for a Maiden t-shirt. There are several to choose from for this tour.

Bruce did take the opportunity to let us know the UK was going to win the Soccer match on later today against the US, and we responded in kind. He said they were going to spend the afternoon in some bar in San Antonio watching the game. Man, what I would give to be there. And then they played Bloodbrothers...very cool.

Dream Theater was alright...they played for 40-ish minutes. I am going to look up some of their albums, honestly until tonight I'd never heard of them, except by name.

"UP THE IRONS!!!" You are going to love the show.

Thats my problem with Dream Theater...You'd think with all the music school credentials that many of the members have that they'd be more that just "alright". They remind me of many of the bands I used to see in Nashville, where you could tell all the members were awesome players of their instruments, but collectively as a band, the bands talent could never seem to match the level of talent each player has individually.

Wow... glad you had a great time. i'm very excited now. This is going to be a long 4 weeks. Also sounds like your set was a bit different from the dallas set so i'm NOT peeking anymore. I didn't get to see the Powerslave tour as i was just a bit too young, but i was very very lucky that for the last tour as a 25th anniversary, they broke out all the pyramids and recreated the stage set with all songs from 1988 and below with the exception of one tune "Fear of the Dark". I wonder if Bruce is piloting the Jet this go around or if they're doing the bus thing. My favorite thing about Maiden shows is when the whole arena is singing along... can't wait.

Bowlfreshener, I totally agree with you on Dream Theater... i've tried many times to like them based on recommendations but i just feel like for all that talent, i just don't care about their songs.

anyhoo,

Foot on the monitor wedge, Gauntlet raised high... UP THE IRONS!!!

I saw DT twice ... once headlining a 3000-seat gig in 1994 supporting "Images and Words" -- and also a few years ago opening for Yes. Back in 1994, they were brilliant and put on amazing show. More recently, they just seemed tired and not nearly not so interesting as before. I am also not so sure that they have matched their songwriting on "Images and Words". As they came out, I purchased a few of their albums, and none seems as good as "Images and Words". If any one is looking for an album of theirs to be, definitely start there ...
