Most of the gear I see is your garden variety cookie cutter guitars and amps. Nothing spectacular or special at all ( and most of the time the guitars are set up poorly and broken or missing parts..) And I understand why they are a corporation. The quality tends to go down when you become a large corperation.

Guitar Center is a large corporation but they are a retailer, not a manufacturer. Much of their inventory comes from other large corporations, like the Fender Musical Instrument Corporation.

I do apologize I did not mean to treat them as a manufacturer But I what I meant to get across is that larger corporations (retail wise) tend not to take a personal approach to business. Or take care of the product they sell or the employees they hire. Basically the larger they get the worst they get. I know the company I work for now started off a wonderful company that prided them selves on customer service. Then the more they grew and became more corporate they started worrying less about customers and quality and more about stocks and profit margins.. And I feel from my experiences with them thats where they are or heading....

i have had the same problems and so have my friends. When ever i go in the people are usually nasty and rude unless your going to by something. Its like you have to state what your going to be at the door so they actually treat you right. I was going into guitar center to try to play a 62 reissue strat and they didnt let me. They said i would break it or something. Its bull. I always shop at my local guitar shop in hoboken NJ. The prices are exactly the same for picks and strings and the people who work there are always nice, of course they dont have the same selection like guitar center but i would rather be treated like a person at a small store then not a big chain
