I've never been in a GC, no outlets close to me. I do my dealings with Arc Music, and some with Sam Ash. GC sounds like any other retail store trying to treat the good folks right, and keep the questionable ones from stealing them blind. Don't be so paranoid. If you're not doing anything wrong, LIGHTEN UP!

I've just dealt with them online. Aside from being asked for the name of the worker who gave me a great price match (I'm not going to narc on him), GC was okay to me. I'm not thrilled with this new email review thing they have, but they've been okay with me online. There are no stores near me so haven't been in a store.

I can understand security measures. Economy stinks and you do what you need to do to protect your merchandise. Walmart checks my bags when I leave and workers walk the aisles. I don't get offended unless they're rude. I get more ticked off at the checkout line when they won't honor their sales prices. LOL

Also, to address not being waited on, I mean, I've been in lots of places...clothing stores, music stores, computer stores...where no one will wait on me just because I'm a woman and guys think I'm too stupid to know about computers or anything hi tech or the workers are women who won't wait on other women. For example, I was in an Apple store and no one would wait on me except for one young guy. (the others were women who looked at me like I was trash) The women workers waited on men who bought nothing. Me, I got a computer, a printer, and an iPod (the printer and iPod were free by rebate, but he gets a cut in commission for them). He was gloating like no tomorrow. LOL The gals were so mad and he was just smiling like a cat who just caught a mouse. Their loss!!!! That's how I view it. It still ticks me off, but unfortunately, some people are like that.

Its kinda funny when I first started playing guitar Guitar Center was actually musicians friend and I totally loved going there. For the most part the guitars were set up properly and in tune. Not missing knobs or broken parts. But after they became guitar Center. I quit going, Most of the gear I see is your garden variety cookie cutter guitars and amps. Nothing spectacular or special at all ( and most of the time the guitars are set up poorly and broken or missing parts..) And I understand why they are a corporation. The quality tends to go down when you become a large corperation.. I tend to get my stuff either at small mom and pop shops or online..

recently i had yet another bad experence at GC, i posted on twitter this statement...have i ever mentioned my anger with guitar center?

wich in 30 min i had a tweet from a gc employee, and i replied and he gave me his personal email, requesting more info on what my negative experiences had been, i wrote a rather legnthy reply, and before the end of the day had a reciened an email back, not loaded with excuses, but wanting to know what they need to to do fix the problems, and make things right!

The next morning i recieved a call from the district mananger, and the store manager both apologizing and asking what to do to make things better and how to improve things!

I have seen changes since this all happened, and i was mindblown by the fact a simple tweet got all of this response!

I was very impressed and want to give a shout out to those guys for making me feel like a valued customer, not a punk, or a criminal or whatever!

Give the GC guys another chance if u are fet up!

Guitar Center is a large corporation but they are a retailer, not a manufacturer. Much of their inventory comes from other large corporations, like the Fender Musical Instrument Corporation.

Well the comment about anyone complaining about security must have stealing on the mind is out of line. I have never been asked to see anything on my way into a GC but I have no problem opening my bag and showing my receipt on the way out.

The store that had two Les Pauls stolen I hate to say deserved it. If you higher workers that are that incompetent I really cant feel bad for them. What did they think they were walking out with a sandwich-get real.

If I said this once I must of said it a thousand times. I dont care what method they use to measure the value of a trade in you are going to get ripped off. The bottom line is they are a business and there object is to make money. Sell your ax on your own and get the whole amount instead of taking on a partner.

1. It’s their store. They get to make the rules.
2. I'm in the Army. Every so often I has to submit a piss test, Observed by another person. Bottom line: I have to pee in cup because other people do drugs. Other people steel, so I have to live with the rules.
3. I don't mind having someone help me get guitar. If they want to watch me; then so be it. Come to think of it, I've never noticed anyone watching me at Guitar Center. I guess I just look like a nice guy.

First of all, +1,000,000 infinity for service to your country. Dad was in the USAF. God bless you.

Sorry, I couldn't stop laughing for a long time after reading that. Dad used to say something similar. Definitely got your point across.

I love guitar center. I have had no retail problems with them. Good serrvice from the online store also.

My only complaint is when I go to a GC there are always 2 or 3 wankers going on playing real loud on an amp like everyone else in the world needs to or wants to hear their playing. Gee have a little heart folks, cut it down to 2, 3 or 4 and give the rest of us a break. The GC employees are instructed not to interfere with this self centered behavior.
