If so, any pedal recommendations for a better boost or overdrive off the clean channels?

Quite honestly, I didn't think my VCXD took pedals very well. I used a Tube Screamer sometimes.

I should point out it's been a while since I used it. The power tube started arcing and I replaced it. Now it's dead. The shop says, "Just bring it in and we'll look it over. Don't forget your receipt." I can't find it. It's got a 5-yr warranty. I guess I need to prove I'm the owner.
