"Hard Again" has to be in my top 20 albums of all time.

I first heard it as a teenager and it blew me away.

It still does all these years later.

I am a late comer to the Blues. Been flirting with acoustic guitar for some 30 years - I had no clue as to play electric guitar or the blues for that matter. I knew chords but my lead playing stunk. For some reason I decided to buy a Telecaster and started learning the minor pentatonic scale progressions, mostly trying to play along with songs from CD's (usually with little of no luck) After about 6 months of continual practicing my moment of epiphany happened. I was struggling to play along with Eric Clapton's From the Cradle album. On the song "It Hurts Me Too" the light bulb lit and I was leading the blues!!

Since that "epiphany" it has been a true lesson in the blues music and legends....with the help of many on this Forum, and research on the web, my journey has been wonderful. From Clapton, to Muddy Waters to Ronnie Earl, and B.B., Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Derek Trucks, Tab Benoit, Robert Cray, Sue Foley, Ana Popvic, Coco Montoya, Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, and the list goes on, and on, and on...........There is no music I enjoy more. I rarely listen to the radio any more. I simply can't get enough of the blues. So while you are going about your lives today, I guarantee you that I will be listening, or playing, or watching, or whistling, or humming or "driftin' and driftin'" through this wonderful music called "The Blues".

Thanks Forum!!!!!

Muddy Mississippi Waters Live is a must have CD for anyone who enjoys listening to this great music! Some serious harp by Cotton and Portnoy and of course Johnny on guitar. Speaking of Cotton, check out Slam Allen, amazing Blues guitar player! He's Cotton's guitar player but does his own thing too... got the chance to jam with him, great talent!

Hi Beaubs, been buying and listening to a lot of blues myself lately, so I hear ya man...I hear ya.
One thing is, I saw a set of 7 blues harps going pretty cheap, all in different keys and in a fancy box, so I got 'em.
I'm not good on the harp by any means but when you're listening to your cd's it's a great way of joining in, kinda helps give you a feel for it.
Something you might want to consider, if you don't already do it.
Great fun anyway. :D

Thanks Rhumba. I have been thinking about the blues harp, wonderin' if I would have the knack for them. I might just take you up on your suggestion......

Any blues fan or Muddy Waters fan owes it to themself to pick up

"Muddy Waters- Folk Singer"

...by far the best Muddy album ever.

Blues to the core.

Muddy on slide guitar, a young Buddy Guy on acoustic and Big Willie Dixon on the standup bass.

Clapton is why I wanted to start playing guitar but to wade my way into the waters that are the blues I started listening to Muddy and playing some simpe blues shuffles to his songs. It's a very unique sound if you are a stranger to it but if your really "listen" to it and break it down mentally it's pretty genius.
