Did the Nudg play Wang Dang Sweet Poontang, or Wango Tango or Cat Scratch Fever? Rock On Nudg!!!

Nope, just the National Anthem. He was a last minute addition, so he played between my band's sets. They totally changed the schedule on us too, we were supposed to start at 5 but the guy in charge threw up us there the second we got there, at 3:30. The piano/organ player arrived after we started and had to set up during the first song!

Great story Texas and you met Ted, talked with him too! I like that you gave Ted your CD, you're smart and that is so important Texas! Thanks for sharing!

I originally wasn't going to give it to him, but my parents were encouraging me to. After I initially met him and talked a little bit my Mom reminded me about the CD and I decided to go ahead and give it to him. If anything maybe he'll remember me if he sees me again in ten years or something.

Tex what a great story and also an experience you will never forget. Wow when you just think how long Ted has been around from the days with the Amboy Dukes and the classic Journey to the Center of the Mind to his solo career and then Damn Yankees he has always been a fave of mine. Even as entertaining is catching him on a talk show and seeing what an intelligent guy he is who can hold his own in a debate with just about anyone..I dismiss all the nonsense with these activist groups as the guy is an avid hunter and NRA member which is nothing but normal to me. Also I always give him his due for starting out in a time when just about every rock star was into substance abuse and being totally anti drugs.

I always remeber a great interview he gave in Guitar Player and they were asking him who he thought were some of the greatest players ever and talked about Jim McCarty the guitarist for Mitch Ryder and the Detroit wheels and the reason why the Nuge plays a Gibson Byrdland. He also went on to say that when a young Eddie Vanhalen opened for him he had to watch his sound check to see if there was any gimmickry in his rig and asked him if he could checkout his ax and said when he turned it up he sounded just like himself and that Ed is just one of the greatest players that ever lived with probably the greatest set of ears of any player. Then he mentioned SRV and said "The same class as Ed but with a little more soul" This was the one that made me laugh and that I totally got but will probably offend some hear lol. He brought up Gerry Garcia and said he just did not get the fuss as the guy had no chops at all and played out of tune most of the time. So he had to go back and listen to him again just to make sure he was not missing something and then said he was not.

I tell you what, if I ever had any curiosity about drugs and alcohol, SRV totally killed it. That's one place I definitely don't want to go, and I'm glad there are people like Ted Nugent who didn't go that route. You can kind of tell too, Ted Nugent has some of the most consistent playing of anyone and I'm sure that has something to do with the fact that he's always been clean and sober.

I used to money I made with my first paying gig to pay for a pellet gun and some targets for me and my brother. I probably should have told him about that, he would have gotten a kick out of it.

Ted is a real Class Act. I was back stage with him in 1970, during the Survival Of The Fittest tour. We were talking as he warmed up. Ted warming up is like a super concert just doing that. Glad that he is Ted!

I hate to bring this thread up yet again, but this morning something really cool happened! The MC of the event is a popular local radio show host. He was talking all about Ted today on his show and so my Dad send him an email asking if he wouldn't mind putting in a plug for me and my band. And he read it on the air! Plus he said some really nice things about us. The drummer heard it and freaked out. Then he called the band's leader who then called us freaking out. He didn't know it was actually my Dad who instigated it. I've never been mentioned on the radio before, so that was really cool. :D

By the way, I just want to make it clear that my Dad does that kind of thing because he's good at it and I want him to. Not because he's one of those freaky parents who's life revolves around promoting their child because they want them to become the next superstar.

Yeah, Ted Nugent has been one of my absolute favorites for a long time.
He's one of my main influences. Not so much in blues, but definitely in rock. :D

Excellent photographs! !st Jimmy Vaughn and now Ted Nugent, Texas, you have some of the best guitar players on the planet as friends, that is awesome!

I've always heard that Ted was a really nice guy. We are opening for 38 Special later this month and hope to meet them. Last year we played the same event and Alan Tippin was the headliner. He was a really nice guy and his band were all great and friendly.
