Hi guys. I am new to the forum and to playing electric guitar. I am left handed and had to order my guitar from America and requested them to airfreight it. Any idea what the time period would be for the air shipment to come from America to South Africa? :D

Hi devon007, welcome to the Forum.

I sometimes have stuff airfreighted from Stew-Mac in the US to the UK. Things sent Friday afternoon usually arrive Monday morning. Not bad.

Depends entirely on the courier and what level of service you pay for, I guess. Assuming you're in Jo-burg or Cape Town or wherever then you are internationally well connected and I see no reason why it should take long - depending what service you get.

Any help?

Cheers - C

Ha! I was in Durban one time a few years ago - along with a bunch of other places in SA. You have a fabulous country full of great people - and great wine and food too! :D

Enjoy that guitar: I hope it arrives quickly.

Cheers - C

Thanks guys.

As I am only a beginner, I decided to get a highway one strat. When I am better at it I will get an american standard. The type of music I like is alternative rock and pentecostal gospel music i.e. hillsong. I do not mind a bit of blues. Unfortunately I am left handed and the only colour they had for me was black. I would have liked a sunburst :D

Ya, I hope it comes fast too as I have paid for it last month already, but they delayed in shipping as they were shipping another SA guy's guitar with mine.

It is OK to be a beginner and when you'll be a better player, any guitar will sound good in your hands, be it a Highway one or an American standard. Send pictures if you can, we love them. :)

......I am always amazed by the fact that you can send anything anywhere on this beautiful orb floating in the sky....and what better than to send a black Fender Highway One from one end of the earth to the other so Devon can fire it up and make some music. Too cool.................................... 8)

I have bought Apple stuff that shipped from China and took 3 days to Maryland. Just remember dates are different when you look at Fed-X times when shipping from far away.

Well guys

Its Wednesday afternoon here in South Africa

I went to the Fender dealer here in Durban to check on my guitar to see if it arrived. Alas nothing yet. Apparently all Fender USA goods are shipped to Cape Town first. The Fender dealer phoned the guy in CT and said that he did not receive the guitar as yet at their warehouse. Fender USA confirmed with the Fender dealer in Durban that they sent the package to South Africa last week Thursday. Surely it can't take that long for it to come here? I mean it must take at least 1 day flight time. I know it has to go through customs, but damn its been a week already and it has not even arrived at the Cape Town Fender warehouse yet. I don't even know if Fender has sent it yet. The dealer said he will get a tracking number and see were it is and that apparently Fender uses UPS as their courier company. I am desperate to get my hands on that guitar. The reason is its a birthday present bought for me and my birthday is next week. It will just suck if it is not here before then. :x
