I took the time to learn this song with the right tones and lics and groove, the bass players got the it covered and the drummer is right on. The only problm is that the singer can't sing it in the key it's in (A). Has anyone tried to do this song in adiffrent key and made it work, or done it as a instrumental?

It's a challenge for a vocalist for sure, masterhacker. Our band is tuned down a half step so that helps a bit on all our material.

Not that it matters but I thought the key was D.

I remember playing that also, you should be able to move it to another key easily by playing the same chord progression...you'll see...try it a whole step lower and see if the singer can do it.
As a side note,I discovered that for some reason the key of Ab has some really nice tones when played through my old Fenders.

Here's a cool version of the song.
Although, it is played in the key of "A".
Just don't play out with pants like Joe Walsh!

While on the Tube I had to watch Walk Away one of my childhood faves. Joe somehow reminds me of Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times in it.lol

I saw Joe Walsh with his own band about fifteen years ago.
In the middle of "Rocky Mountain Way" he turned around and picked up a trombone.
He couldn't play that thing if his life depended on it.
But it sure was hilarious!

Lots of people don't know it but Jim Varney aka Ernest P. Worrall was recording an album,I think it was back in the late 80s and Joe Walsh did a solo on a song or two...I heard the songs in a studio in Nashville and they were surprisingly good,I remember Dickey Betts played on a couple.
Varney and Walsh could have been a comic act.
I've always wondered what happened to that project,I don't think it was ever released.
