So, when I was 17 years old in 1985 I bought my first guitar at a small guitar shop in Glen Echo (I think it was there) or maybe Cabin John... The area just north of the DC line along the Potomac River... IT was a 1973 Les Paul Custom for $400....

I think the name of the shop was Strathmore Guitars... Does anyone know of any guitar shops that were located in Glen Echo in 1985 ? It's no big deal, but for somre reason, it's bugging me not knowing the name of the shop....

I'm from the Baltimore/DC area, but nothing sounds familier. You could look them up on a yellow pages website.

Good luck!

The name Strathmore does sound familiar...I know there is a pretty well known store in College Park, MD which is a little north of DC...but the name escapes me. I moved south to Richmond, VA in 2003 but I grew up in Alexandria. I'll dig in my memory banks. Why do you need to know? Music stores come and go, I wouldn't be surprised if it was gone.

Strange.. but it is just for nostalgia reasons... I just want to know the name of the store and where it was located... I think it was on MacArthur Blvd. in Glen Echo... It's driving me crazy... I remember the guy had like 50 les paul customs for sale for $400-$600 each... It was a sight to see... I mean bizarre... At that time the les paul wasn't in very high demand...
