There is zero reason why they cannot build a cap with pressure relief valves and draw pipe that progressively closes and opens so that the
pressure is in constant equalization during the transition stage of capping
the leak. None whatsoever. I believe the first cap attempt purely due to
overengineering mentalities.
Just cap and siphon the oil like a vacuum cleaner.

Check out the news reports from the gulf oil spill that happened in 1979 and you'll see that it's not political. Took just as long to do it then. They tried all the same techniques to stop it and failed. Relief wells are the only thing that did the trick.

Yeah, there's a company in Maine sending down 100 feet of boom that claims it might help the situation. If so, BP will buy a huge supply of it.

I hear they had to lift the cap off that thing today do to gas building up.

Yeah, I heard the same but I think it's back on or the robotics are getting ready to put back on today. This thing just keeps getting worse!

Miami,
I am 100% sure this delay is 95% political. The accident was over 2 months ago and they still haven't fixed the problem.

Yeah, it sounds easy enough. Let's try and keep to the problem and avoid the politics though. We all remember the Wall Street scenario.

Miami,
The physical problem is only 5% of the problem. The other 95% of the problem is what is preventing the 5% from getting fixed.
Majority Rules. Remember??

what do you guys think of the connections between the 1500 meter ban, George Soros, and Petrobras as it relates to the whole mess? Pretty crazy.
Don't trust anything that has George Soros name tied to it. Soros and John Podesta did a lot in deciding who was going to be in the obama administaration. To this day they are two of the few that pull the strings for there talking obama head in office. Like the General that just got replaced said he felt that obama was in over his head on decisions about Afghanistan the oil leak is just another case of over his head. I am sure Soros and Padesta would have no problem manipulating barrack hussein obama and putting him in the Soros pocket.

I would like to know how far along they are with the relief well?

Wall street speculators working the system hoping for a big hurricane to make that big gains.
Make believe that there will be a shortage of oil.
Meanwhile the leak goes oil!!!!

And lets not forget this. Written in March before the leak make you wonder?

The Obama administration is poised to ban offshore oil drilling on the outer continental shelf until 2012 or beyond. Meanwhile, Russia is making a bold strategic leap to begin drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. While the United States attempts to shift gears to alternative fuels to battle the purported evils of carbon emissions, Russia will erect oil derricks off the Cuban coast.

BP stock closed at $27.02 today (down 5.98% since yesterday.)

Their 52 week chart shows a range of $62.38 - $27.02.

Whose buying? :P

OK and where's the relief well?

I want to make a clear distinction here about the political nature of this disaster. there is reactionary politics and there are preactionary politics:
The politics that paved the way for this disaster to occur and the lack
of preparedness we have seen.

The oil spill of 1979 should have taught the industry and the government
how to respond. Did it? Apparently not because the oil is still leaking and the methods tried thus far have failed.

Who is responsible?
BP (HQ Great Britain), Transocean (HQ Switzerland), Hyundai Heavy Industries Co LTD (HQ South Korea)

Victims?
Americans
How so?
They don't make anything. They are non-productive.
They pay at the pump. Still dependant on oil because oil drives their economy.

They pay dearly in that their society has been dumbed down so much
that the majority citizenry will argue in defense of their demise.

Benefactors and beneficiary?
According to British Prime Minister Cameron, BP, it appears is at risk
for destruction. If this turns out to be true, a buyer is already waiting in the wings. There's your beneficiary.

Read Snippet
Quote:
BP plc[3][4] is a British-based global energy company which is the third largest energy company and the fourth largest company in the world. A multinational oil company ("oil major"), BP is the United Kingdom's largest corporation, with its head office in St James's, City of Westminster, London.[5][6][7] BP America's headquarters is in the One Westlake Park in the Energy Corridor area of Houston, Texas.[8] The company is among the largest private sector energy corporations in the world and is one of the six "supermajors" (vertically integrated private sector oil exploration, natural gas, and petroleum product marketing companies).[9] The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange, the New York Stock Exchange, and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

Since the 20 April 2010 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, in which 11 people died, and subsequent oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, BP's public standing and stock value have dropped substantially, losing nearly half of its market capitalisation.[10] The disaster, involving a leaking deep water oil well, has devastated a vast area of the United States marine environment, killed marine life, and had a serious impact on the local fishing industry. Efforts at containing the spill were at first ineffective and though some progress has been made since the fitting of a cap, in late June 2010, massive volumes of crude oil continue to escape and cause serious damage to the marine ecosystem and local economy.[11][12] Apart from the environmental damage, the disaster is having an impact on President Barack Obama's political standing. The disaster has prompted high level negotiations with British Prime Minister David Cameron, who has expressed concern for the prospect of BP's destruction.[13]

I just heard the other day that all the rigs in the gulf share a common emergency response system. One well go booboo another will have to wait
to make a booboo or else.
Politics says this is ok.

Common sense asks
Does Los Angeles have one cop for the entire city?
When they say send in the Marines, are they referring to just one or two jarheads?

Politics says
If it makes sense, don't do it.

You don't really believe that do you Mike? Alex is over 500 miles away and in a few days will be out of the Gulf. Even though the media would love for it to happen there's no oily hurricane on the way.
